How to share progress on iOS app development without revealing too much and spoiling the surprise ๐ค

@Gargron (Have not watched the video) I reckon one very obvious and logical reason is due to very extreme and unnecessary censorship and/or getting monetized has become so much of a chore that a creator sees fit to migrate elsewhere, be it their own website or some other semi-popular website. I used to make YouTube videos myself, never got popular and part of me is VERY HAPPY about that because I absolutely cannot stand how YouTube, as it is today, is run. In a few words; it's absurd.

@Gargron Barber shops are a great alternative. I had my hair cut on Thursday and did not need to wait more than a single day... I made cupcakes again, added some chocolate drops this time and a pinch of cinnamon, havenโt tried them yet though

"Representatives from the Mastodon project didnโt immediately respond to an email asking if they shared the criticsโ concerns." Wait, what? I didn't receive no e-mail from Ars Technica. Where did they send it?!

@Gargron lmao that's wild, honestly when I read that bit I just assumed you didn't want to wade into Gab's shitshow (which is perfectly reasonable) @gargron did they specify in the article whether the email was sent to a Mastodon related email address? , Now I'm getting worried the Mastodon iOS app welcome screen will be so good people won't want to leave it. Not sure if I should show it just yet. Don't want to spoil the surprise...

Make the about screen an even better one, and make it only accessible after you've logged in. Just to reiterate in relation to Gab getting hacked, Iโm not aware of any vulnerabilities in Mastodon at the moment and based on what I have seen in their code modifications the vulnerabilities they have are the ones they themselves introduced (along with never porting security patches from us)

@Gargron Are you in touch with @conservancy or other free software organizations about Gab violating AGPL by taking their Git repo down yesterday? (Arguably the violation goes further than that because they've not even been linking to that repo from their main site.) Context: https://mastodon.social/@angdraug/105822631688097080 Would you mind giving a heads up should you be able to point out the introduced vulnerabilities? Would you mind giving a heads up should you be able to point out the introduced vulnerabilities? Addressing the elephant in the room but it's a literal elephant and you are talking to it @Gargron ๐ ๐จ Being able to build the official Mastodon app for iOS in xcode and play around with it in an emulator to the see the results of weeks of UX and engineering work is a pretty amazing feeling

@Gargron Hey, you going to add direct support for APNs to the Mastodon code base or will you use the relay approach? "How I cut GTA Online loading times by 70%" https://nee.lv/2021/02/28/How-I-cut-GTA-Online-loading-times-by-70/ Turns out it's inefficiently parsing 10 MB of JSON every time you load the game

@Gargron If their anti-cheat software doesnโt notice an extra unsigned DLL hooked in, they may as well just not have any at all because itโs clearly not going to even slightly slow down someone with malicious intent.

@Gargron we watched earlier this evening and the show is definitely getting intriguing @Gargron Everyone tells me to check it out, but is it actually worth the asking price of Disney+? Come to think of it, I don't use any streaming platforms, except YouTube. "Remain Calm: the fox is still in the Firefox logo" https://blog.mozilla.org/firefox/the-fox-is-still-in-the-firefox-logo/ I have seen posts getting this wrong even on here.

@Gargron I'm guilty for complaining a lot about lots of things, having said that, I can see from going to the provided link that they may not remove the fox but that doesn't mean they can't take the life out of the fox; minimalizing its features is a way of minimalizing its actual identity, if you ask me. @Gargron I like it. After finding out, that she's norwegian, I can remember Norway and the Fjords and imagine the olden days with the viking ships. Thanks for posting it. |
@Gargron Yeahno, it's just a crypto equivalent of fine art marketplace, where few speculants will get rich and small artists will only lose money trying to get into it (with bonus art theft, which is already happening)
@Gargron And yup, paypal them money, us artists LOVE that shit ;P <3
@Gargron I lost my shorts on the first big Bitcoin bubble, and yeah, it's all hype and no practical application other than cheap long distance money transfers. For supporting artists, use Librepay. For getting your music out there without unreasonable middlemen, Bandcamp. I can't say what the equivalent is for visual artists though
