Are you making any changes to your registration process to prevent the creation of spam accounts? We have had to limit mastodon.social twice as well as handling reports of spam. We don't want to limit Mastodon.social as a rule, but it is creating a moderation burden.

@Gargron @arstechnica Verification remains very tricky to get working. Eventually it happened for our @okaphone account. But right now I'm struggling with this account.

The back link has been in place for about a day (before I tried). I've been clearing caches, logging out and in, modifying my setting in various ways, changing the URL, waiting, tried a-tag and link-tag... but sofar no luck.

Maybe you guys should do some testing on this important functionality and make it a bit more reliable. 🤔

You and Mastodon GmbH benefit massively from the immense amount of work that the wider fediverse community does.

While I appreciate the perspective that the software != the community, I respectfully disagree. The decisions for the software impact the community, as we heard so profoundly at the Black Twitter Summit. The concern I have is that you often conflate the software and the community when it suits, but reject it when it doesn't.
