Earlier today mastodon.social has been upgraded to a nightly build too. Shout out to our DevOps! Lots of UX improvements now live.

@Gargron Looks fantastic, thank you as always! Looking forward to all the coming improvements.

@Gargron what exactly do you think “nightly” means?

Eugen Rochko

@jason It means we have a nightly cron action that tags a Docker image off the main branch.

@Gargron I’m just wondering what good could come of grabbing the latest commit and shoving it in front of millions of people. I know this is their policy, not yours, but I would (and have) encourage customers to use stable releases? Is every end-user an unwitting bet tester?

This is bad release management, IMO…

@Gargron @jason Good to beta test new features early. 👍

@Gargron how about not running feature branches on prod?

@Gargron pero no va bien, se sobreponen las cosa y tengo de hacer pequeña la ventana para poder publicar.

Revisalo por favor.

@Gargron My setting for showing unclipped images was lost when you guys did that.

But I do appreciate the full width columns. 😎

@Gargron
That's a welcome development if this platform is to become a more widely accepted twitter replacement. Others like Post and Spoutible have good UI's amd experience.

@Gargron there appears to be an issue with the media uploading process. specifically, when photos are added in number wise, their position is automatically changed/re-positioned after they have been selected and uploaded for mastodon.

@Gargron Not trying to be negative, but as a software engineer, I’m feeling a tiny teeny bit uncomfortable with using nightly on production. I don’t even run public beta Apple software on my daily driver devices.
Could you give more rationale about why we run nightly on production? I hope it’s just a big misunderstanding on my part.
