"See, here, that's the first challenge."
"We'd like to schedule a Zoom call with 100r to talk about low-bandwidth software challenges, and-" Alaska is one of the most breathtaking places we had the chance of sailing through. It's tough at times and cold most of the time, but it's also a massive sailing playground filled with countless birds, sealions, otters and whales as only company. It's also extremely quiet, the only sound the break the silence besides birds chirping, and whales coming up for air, is the sound of the waterfalls on the high cliffs. @neauoire Alaska in the spring and summer may be the most beautiful place on earth. If it weren't so much danged work to get there, I'd go every year. Found a way to write live demos for some pages on my wiki from the comfort of a catlang.

@neauoire This automaton behaves a lot like these experiments with lighter fluid... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqhXQUzVMlQ Got a good reminder of why it's so important to have emergency kits / supplies in a car yesterday. The main reason isn't really to get yourself out of trouble but to be able to help others. @ritualdust it's kind of nuts how little preparedness is teached in Canada, we need something like the Bosai preparedness rhino to teach kids about what to put in their ditchbag : ) Writing some stupid javascript now, but hopefully in a way that makes it so I never have to write javascript again. :eccehomo:

@neauoire I went to uni with these guys who made a whole computer in wireworld https://www.quinapalus.com/wi-index.html (your background image). This week in absolutely cursed programming, I rewrote my copy/paste server based on the idea of a tuplespace, so every uxn program snarfing a snippet of text is pushing it in the tuple server. I can finally share "types" of snippets between programs and differentiate between copy/pasting pixels, text or other binary data. I can even consume snippets, and use it as a kind of history. The things one does at anchor without internet connectivity.

@neauoire I am apparently in an age based on pumps and water pipes and turbines. Can't figure out the puzzles. " Do you ever look around you and think, shit, I'm in Myst " Well.. Sometimes I look around and think 'missed... I'm in shit'. I love seeing the flag of Alaska on people's lawn, it's such a pretty flag. The state flag of Alaska displays eight gold stars, forming the Big Dipper and Polaris, on a dark blue field. The Big Dipper is an asterism in the constellation Ursa Major, which symbolizes a bear, indigenous to Alaska. As depicted on the flag, its stars can be used as a guide by the novice to locate Polaris and determine true north. 🥳 Did you read Greece wants to "cap" the number of cruise ships visiting some small islands? https://gcaptain.com/greece-to-cap-number-of-cruise-ships-at-its-most-popular-islands/ When you exit Wrangell Narrows, as the land falls away, you are rewarded with a most beautiful sight. Hello Petersburg~! The French Revolution lecturer from The Machine Stops encouraging people remixing other people's thoughts and observations basically encouraged people to play The Glass Bead Game. @bouncepaw i probably need to read/reread both but im having trouble parsing this sentence If it wasn't for our wearing winter coats and the snow covered mountain all around us, I'd say this place looks almost like the tropics. This year's favourite meal to make during transits is jajangmyeon. It's ideal because we use in it both our sprouted legumes and pickled vegetables, making it a complete meal from things we have grown aboard or preserved over the winter. Back in the day, I began my career working on open source rendering software even before open source was fully conceived. Now that I'm no longer part of a corporate behemoth and my time is my own, I'm wondering if there is an open source rendering project out there that might benefit from my contributions. Getting back into coding and working with a group, as well as the warm fuzzies of contributing to an open source project sounds enticing. Any recommendations? #rendering #raytracing Blender's built-in renderers, Cycles (pathtracer) and Eevee (viewport/rasterizer), have gotten very very good over the past decade, and are always open to contributors! @brainwagon The academy software foundation is always looking for volunteers and has lots of great projects. MoonRay is the ready tracer DreamWorks open sourced. BTW, great to see your post, we've ran in the same circles many years ago. |
