A couple of folks on the instance(and friends) got together and made a Diablo Tribute tape, there will be actual red cassettes available of it in a bit, but in the meantime, here's a rip of the audio!

Made a working roman calculator tablet with just a few rewrites, and the UX happen automatically by detecting that rules can occur when two symbols are in contact. I used a line for the intermediate values because..

In Roman calculation, stones are placed on lines representing units, tens, hundreds and thousands. The spaces between the lines are used to represent intermediate values that is 5, 50, 500. So it is never necessary to use more than 5 stones on a line or more than 2 stones in a space. This is because 5 stones on a line can be replaced by one stone in the space above and 2 stones in a space can be replaced by one stone on the line above.

In this strange computer, rules can be sometimes applied backward, pressing the arrow button will unapply a rule and might help you recover and earlier state.

For a brief and fleeting moment, before that website's CSS kicked in, I glimpsed at a perfectly readable website.

Completed a zine that teaches the basics of multiset rewriting programming with examples and also includes the source for a tiny Fractran interpreter.

Thanks for everyone who sent feedback, I've included the suggestions. I'll have a bunch of those at Handmade Seattle next month, if you'd like one, just come and see me and I'll give you a copy :catclock:

archive.org is down! I'll just use wayback machi-

@neauoire
I pray it's only temporary.

I paid my old host for 5 years to mothball my old blog, but it became an "unnecessary" expense I could no longer afford.

I've been relying on the #IA to keep it alive.

So, naturally, two months after I stop paying a private host to keep my site alive, The IA goes down. 🤦‍♂️

In Canada, today is Orange Shirt Day, it's a day of awareness to recognize the atrocities perpetrated by the country's boarding schools on the children of indigenous communities.

For 3 years now, we've had a monthly hand-drawn calendar in the galley that we cover with doodles, at the end of the year, @rek binds the 12 pages together, and it makes it easy to look back at where we were, what we were doing at a previous time. Everyday has some kind of highlight or other-

It's one of our favourite habits.

Tendigits

@neauoire @rek that’s so great! Do you instantly recall the reasoning for each drawing? Or do some become little mysteries?

Vladimir Chicken

@neauoire @rek that's super cool, I sometimes keep old calendars as a way of remembering some fun period of life, but never thought to anticipate that by making it somehow beautiful

Autumn is just around the corner, and when the leaves begin to fall, it will have been four years since the early sketches of a personal computing system which became #Uxn. I thought it would be interesting to look back and see what has happened since.

when you eat animal products, you are directly consuming high blood pressure, stress, & adrenaline. you are eating fear, grief, & rage. you are eating suffering, horror, & murder. you are eating cruelty.

This fall, it will have been 4 since I began using #uxn, I feel like writing a kind of review, or some kind of summary of lessons learned during this 4 years adventure into personal computing, interesting events, answering some critiques, talking about some dead-ends and so on.

@neauoire You've built something really amazing in my opinion, Devine. uxn is such a powerful piece of technology because its values allow for the creation of different futures than most mainstream tech. 💙

lee

@neauoire maybe you would be open to doing a podcast interview about it? (Artists and Hackers)

New blog post! This time I'm taking a look at fonts. I ran into a floppy disk containing a pair of extremely cute dingbat fonts - a tokusatsu helmet alphabet, and a set of decorative lucha mask characters. They're well-designed and very detailed.

Thinking about Japan and this little video of our friends playing a fantastic cover of Kirenai on the hukulele.

I wasn't happy with using the Cyrillic glyphs I found online, so I've traced new ones that better fit with Chicago.

@neauoire wow, like for Монеточка :dragnheart:

Daruma

@neauoire love the look of your font tool! It’s just so aesthetically compact to me! I was also working on fonts today.
