@organicmaps merry christmas! Is there any problem to download the app from f-droid? @organicmaps Thanks for the support! Someone got it right. Together with the OpenStreetMap community, supported by your donations, we will create fast and easy-to-use, privacy-focused maps for everyone. 🚀 Does anyone use OpenCollective? Is it worth collecting donations there? You can support Organic Maps development there: https://opencollective.com/organicmaps @organicmaps I haven't used it myself, but #Tusky, a good Mastodon client, uses it. The @Tusky team may have some input! A hotfix update of Organic Maps for iOS is available in the AppStore. It fixes freezes when any object is selected on the map on iOS 12, 13, and 14. Do you like that beautiful place on the OpenStreetMap? https://omaps.app/04Jglxr0gS/Paleis%5Fhet%5FLoo On this International Volunteer Day, we are sharing our gratitude to everyone who helps us to develop and maintain Organic Maps, the community-built project. Together, we can make the best OpenStreetMap-based maps for anyone on the Planet. Meet the November Organic Maps update! This release was delayed due to OpenStreetMap vandalism, and due to a longer testing of many fixes and changes prepared by our contributors. @organicmaps Thank you! Steve Coast, the founder of OpenStreetMap.org, is preparing his SOTM EU speech. Note how many companies are using OpenStreetMap.org @organicmaps companies are not our friends! They are only good as long as they give da money 😂 @organicmaps Too bad Facebook's Mapillary sucks so bad😡 Literally days to see sequences in #OpenStreetMap #OSM 😡 Checking in at SOTM EU 2023 in Antwerp. @organicmaps /me braces himself for a lot of bad takes on those numbers. For starters people need to realize that the active user numbers are dominated by newbies, 99% of which will edit once or a small handful of times and then vanish. Nothing wrong about that per se, but it does mean framing the user number as "popularity" is at best misleading. @organicmaps Still surprised how little (by usercount) StreetComplete is to iD in our mobile-first world. For those who asked: you can support us on Patreon too: Note that Patreon takes a cut of 8% from the amount. There are other methods to donate listed on our website. @organicmaps How much of the money does @opencollective and @Liberapay keep? @organicmaps Oh well. I do like the Patreon convenience of one place to manage multiple donations but sad that their cut is so high. Wish there was a more altruistic alternative. We are looking for better UX ideas on how to tell our new users about OpenStreetMap and teach them to add/edit map data in osm.org instead of complaining to us. Please share your thoughts in this Github issue: https://github.com/organicmaps/organicmaps/issues/5686

@organicmaps I made a street name correction to OSM and the correction was quickly picked up by both Google and Apple. So I definitely see the value with this. I could see a process of defining a type of change better (“add” verses “correct”), and that the change is in fact something that will be seen globally and not just on our own device. Seems subtle, but a don’t think folks understand how much they can really contribute to OSM. @organicmaps one of these on every screen that might have results? (pardon my ignorance if app already does) Only a few understood the last question correctly. It was about x86 or x86_64 Android devices on Intel/AMD processors… Maybe add a list (or link to a list) of devices? I assume that most users are neither aware, if their device is running on 86architecture, nor if it is 32bit. (but i believe most devices are 64bit amd?) @organicmaps As there are still answers coming in, maybe edit the question? E.g. add "If so" before the second question. Does anyone use Organic Maps on x86 or x86_64 Android devices? If so, do you use it from Google or FDroid? Please let us know.

@organicmaps I’m only familiar with Swift and SwiftUI, but I really like contributing updates to map data in my rural area. @organicmaps your project is amazing. 👍 @organicmaps We love Organic Maps, especially the feature to add/edit #OpenStreetMap right in the app :) What are your thoughts/plans towards integrating crowdsourced live traffic data in a #privacy-respecting way with user consent? Those are good guys trying to make adding businesses and their info into OpenStreetMap easier: https://osmybiz.osm.ch/ We all rely on good quality map data, let's support them and help to make the map editing process even easier and funnier! @organicmaps This is quite confusing for those following this account. Please either mark this account to the new instance or state the purpose of the second account. Limiting registration on an instance is not restricting anyone. People can still be invited and everyone can still see you outside a specific instance.
@organicmaps As others already stated: there is no need for you to create another account on another instance because your instance makes new accs invite-only.
Additionally: there is a function in mastodon to move your existing account to another instance and take all your followers with you.
And lastly: if you move your account to another instance please choose any other instance than the behemoth that has gotten too big for its own good and too big for a federated mastodon world in general.
@organicmaps
Why would it matter that Fosstodon is invite-only? You can be followed from any other instance, right?
