FYI: A critical heap overflow vulnerability has been discovered in libwebp that is being actively exploited in the wild and potentially allows for remote code execution. This affects at least all the popular browsers and Electron-based apps, including messengers such as Signal and Telegram, and additionally LibreOffice. Organic Maps is not affected.

@organicmaps I don't think Telegram has an official Electron-based app. However at least their QT desktop app is probably affected since it uses #libwebp. @organicmaps Well.. As I used to say many times before, webp as lots of google "invented" products/things is a modern internet day cancer. No "fixing" can change that. Avoid the crap if you can! Raise your voice if you are not happy with Android 13 restricting access to the Downloads folder: https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/256669329 @organicmaps Hmm so right now any app can access any file in the downloads folder? Like, pdfs of payslips or whatever? @organicmaps You can delete "to the Downloads folder". I shouldn't have to rely on someone's exploit to give me administrative access to a personal computer I purchased outright with my own money. Thank you for your support! Our beloved users and contributors, you are awesome! https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37347447 @organicmaps Very happy to see it on HN today! Especially with several comments saying they just discovered it. Organic Maps deserved more fame :) baz00 on Hackernews: @organicmaps It is a nice and relatively easy to use map application, but I do have my share of criticism. Still, it is the first app I try for my routing needs, usually followed by OsmAnd~. We also accept donations in crypto 🙏. Please let us know if there is no your preferred chain yet in our list: https://organicmaps.app/donate/#crypto @organicmaps I approve of this, I like privacy-centric open source international payment solutions that can't be controlled by arbitrary large corporations with hidden agendas. That first screenshot got me excited, thinking that maybe addr:flats finally got rendered :) GPX import is now supported in Organic Maps! You don't need to convert your GPX tracks into KML anymore. Import them directly into Organic Maps! @organicmaps Great news! Congratulations! Is there a way to use an imported track for navigation? @organicmaps please add XEC EOS LTZ to crypto currencies project support donation. Add the addresses within the app. А ты не знаешь, есть ли какой-нибудь плагин, чтобы эти карты пробки показывали? Или это противоречит сущности этих карт? Roman, co-founder of Organic Maps, speaks about FOSS (Free and Open-Source Software), our project, and @organicmaps @organicmaps Thanks for this video! Roman seems to be a really nice guy. Its great to get to know the people behind open source projects and listen to the history behind them, how they are managed/maintained and where they are going. Its also nice to hear direct from the co-founder this will always stay open source and ad-free! 100% recommend others boost this video and of course donate if you can. It was a busy time for our team and contributors. We prepared a new app and map data update for you. Also, this year, Organic Maps got 4 slots in the Google Summer of Code 2023 program. We hope that our students will manage to finish their tasks this year and make Organic Maps better. Please check more details on our website:

@organicmaps Something i really learned to value and miss in OM during traveling, as the Mapy.cz implementation helped me to discover beautiful hiking and cycling tracks around while traveling. @organicmaps It is great news, but actually I am a bit sad and disappointed that better bookmarks handling, one of the most requested features, is not going to be prioritized for #OrganicMaps’ #GSoC2023… Our new Organic Maps version is out! Android users can test the experimental lanes suggestion while driving. Navigation directions should now display correctly on iPads. @organicmaps New version is out. Finally, iPad users can use their keyboards without Organic Maps freezing, and Android users can enjoy reading Wiki articles for bookmarked places 😉 We've also improved the search function. This grant will help us continue improving and growing the app. Receiving grant from an independent lab and grant fund also means that our vision of what a good and reliable map service should be is shared, valued and supported. That's fantastic! Very happy you got the grant as I use and love #OrganicMaps daily. I'd love to boost this, but can't on principal as the screenshot has no alt text. That the toot relies on people understanding the text in the screenshot, so you're really shooting yourself in the foot here, locking out people with #accessibility needs. Anyway, thank you for making a great #FOSS app and congrats on the grant! #OpenStreetMap and Organic maps helped Dr Bilgehan Çevik, a turkish doctor, get to the damaged areas in first hours after the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. His message to the mappers: “Thank you all, you are doing really great work”. https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/pedrito1414/diary/401061 Our recent 2023.02.13 release, which includes the updated map data for Turkey and Syria, is out. We appreciate everyone who has ever contributed to the OpenStreetMap. F-droid builds come always with 2 to 3 weeks worth of delay, but i guess if maps are not essential part of the app then they would be up to date even if the organic maps app isn't in the repository We are excited to announce our first update of 2023.
