I'm a reporter looking to interview freelancers who have seen demand for their work go down -- or shift -- in the wake of ChatGPT and all the AI image generators.

This is for a story about how freelancers, specifically, have seen demand for their labor change as use of AI has spread.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ernie Smith

@mimsical I suggest reaching out to the folks who do Study Hall who could probably get you in touch with some folks.

thegrumpyenby

@mimsical Hello, yes, I’m a copywriter/tech content specialist and I have never in my life struggled to find work like right now. Some of that is definitely because of AI directly.

retiolus

És broma? L'única forma d'evitar-ho, i encara, és no utilitzar cap servei de #Meta.

retiolus

I sí, ara sembla que una IA "entra" en les teves publicacions.

Did you know that #XScreenSaver (yes, the collection of screensavers for X11) is available on Android?

And that #Google requires it to have a privacy policy in order to be available in the Play Store?

And that the maintainer chose to crowd-source a privacy policy where every item starts with "Unlike Google"?

It's become a great list of all the privacy violations Google did and still does. And I thought that it's gonna be long, but it's even longer than I imagined.

@scy But will it (unlike Google) never give you up, let you down or run around and desert you?

@jcrabapple it was good until he started mixing imperial and metric units WHY ARE PEOPLE LIKE THIS?

Ingo Everaard

@jcrabapple perhaps the bird was somewhere on the roof?! ;9

Disco3000

@jcrabapple He forgot to factor in wind blowing the poop towards window. But from my bird investigations I would assume it was a lateral fly-by drop 🤓

In July 1990 I stood at the Mer de Glace in the Mont Blanc Massif (French Alps) and took a photo of this imposing glacier. Last September I was there again and took another photo from approximately the same spot. The difference was enormous. To better compare the photos, I overlaid them with a slider: studio-haverstraat.nl/merdegla
#geology #ClimateChange #ClimateCrisis #climate #France #alps #montblanc

The left side of the image shows the left side of a picture of a high alpine environment with a glacier with the caption 1990. The right side of the image shows the right side of a picture (made at the same spot) of that same high alpine environment with a much smaller glacier and the caption 2023.

Tom was the first one to lose his job to AI 🤖

@itsfoss fun fact: tom doesnt actually try to catch jerry most of the time, they're buddies. He just pretends to do so, therefore he wont get kicked out.

The worst message anyone can see when they've just woken up

retiolus

I'm beginning to doubt my mental capacity to remember a password that I enter every day.

Penguinflight

@retiolus Hmm, I can think of a lot worse messages than that...

The problem with Twitter, and Insta, etc is not their policies.

It's the fact they're a centralised service owned by a single company with no interoperability outside of it.

THAT enables the shit policies.

So, things like #Cara are not a solution. Not a valid alternative. Because the policies can and will change. And don't solve the core problem.

Je viens de découvrir ce panneau de réglages pour le fil de publications dans #Cara, c'est assez dingue non ? Vous avez déjà vu ça sur un autre réseau ?

Panneau de réglages dans le réseau social Cara. Son contenu (en anglais) :

Customize Feed
Choose how you want your "For You" feed to look like:
XX % People You Follow
XX % Your Follow's Network
XX % Cara Site-Wide

* in increments of 10% only.

It’s quite the compliment when someone in a video call asks whether your carefully curated home office background is a photo.

I was sad to find a surprising lack of visual scripting apps for Linux. Apple's Shortcuts app is very powerful and can be incredibly useful. It's not like we don't have the technical ability to make something similar.

So I started working on one myself :blobfoxfloofcofe:

@kramo Ooh, this looks like a useful project. Thanks for your hard work!

nebucatnetzer

@kramo I wish Shortcuts would let us write actual scripts.
Not that I mind having the GUI available for beginners.

Ok, so my #LetsDeGoogle journey on a stock Samsung Galaxy S21 FE came to the point of ditching Google Maps. Well, I'm doing a bit of a tricks here. I have Gmaps WV by @divested installed, but once I find what I need, I share it to #osm2gmaps by @retiolus, which passes it to #MagicEarth - it has the least complicated #openstreetmaps GUI with the best public transport details.

I was curious about #React and #Typescript and I remade my drinking game application with #IonicFramework.

And this time, in addition to F-Droid, I plan to publish it on the Play Store and App Store!

The app has already been translated into Catalan with a few sentences, but it would be so cool if it were available in lots of other languages!

@retiolus I started with Czech and made it to 75 strings.
