https://pubkit.net will become the essential toolset to test and design with ActivityPub more effectively. Mark my words π @dansup is it usable against localhost? My big problem is I need automated tests that can tell me when Iβm handling things improperly Pixelfed Stories are one of the most complex ActivityPub activities, using Bearcaps and custom types. I look forward to publishing the spec so other projects can implement ephemeral stories like we have! @dansup I never really understood the whole concept of stories, even when Instagram introduced them! @dansup Having done a small amount of work on kbin the whole extensible context thing made my head hurt. It was next to impossible to find documentation on any of the introduced fields. This was especially confusing given that the namespace uris should be a functioning urls, and in many cases weren't. I look forward to seeing something actually documented! Working on https://pubkit.net so I can use it to test https://loops.video federation PubKit will make ActivityPub development much easier π

@dansup thanks for making this tool! Very helpful and becoming more powerful in the near future. @dansup Anyone else think that sounds like a porno title? That canβt be just me can it? Over 100 people signed up for the @loops Android Beta! https://loops.video is a federated TikTok I'm building, the beta is nearly ready for users. Invites will be rolling out later this week!

Yahoo acquired Artifact lmao I wonder what Kevin and Mike are up to. Maybe they can help Marissa Mayer redesign her photo sharing app π (Kevin and Mike started Instagram btw) So many great memories playing GTA5, mowing down noobs while Night Moves by Bob Seger played on GTA Radio I used to play GTA5 every day for at least an hour, but I rarely play it now So many good tunes on GTA5! @dansup I never really got into GTA V-- San Andreas, closely followed by Vice City were my jam π I used to play SA:MP/VC:MP mods for too many hours and write scripts. Writing scripts for those mods in my teens is the starting point of my software dev career! I honestly do feel guilty about @loops success when just a week before I reached out to @stux and offered my help to build a mobile app for GoldFish I don't want him to lose interest in #GoldFish and all the hard work he's put into learning front and backend development I stick by my word and will write a basic GoldFish app and teach him native app dev and he'll be one of those unstoppable fedi devs in no time π Collaboration > Competition β€οΈ Don't get me wrong, I love Mastodon and everything it's done for the fediverse That being said, I don't want Loops to become the only short form video platform, or the only well known one I'm working with @stux on his own short vid platform called #GoldFish and PeerTube to enable seamless interop We're stronger and better together There is no reason NOT to work with "competitors" because when you have the right mindset and goals: You build for the people, and listen wisely.

@dansup There are a couple of projects out there I am working with one called #wethepeople #wtp @dansup@mastodon.social @stux@mstdn.social yet another vine project. huehuehue @dansup @stux I remember when Vine was the only short video platform. I never ever visited the website, but we saw Vines everywhere on Twitter and Tumblr back then. Eventually it folded, and then TikTok came and filled the void. Then Youtube and Instagram and all kinds of platforms suddenly added short videos in order to get a piece of the cake as well. I still don't get the appeal of short vertical video. I was planning on announcing Loops as an April Fools joke, but what started out as a joke ended up turning into a real project, lol I only started working on Loops a few weeks ago! It was a combination of reaching out to @stux to offer to mentor him with his GoldFish project, and the TikTok ban, that really made me reconsider a serious approach. This is why I had to make last minute April Fools joke about me joining Meta and wishing farewell to Pixelfed π Loops is real, and will be here soon @stux Stux bro, my offer still stands! Let's start building your GoldFish platform, it would be so cool to have Loops and GoldFish launch around the same time! Gosh, I'm just so happy with the potential to work together, I think you have so much potential as a next generation fedi developer and would LOVE to assist you in making GoldFish the best it can be! Let's show the fediverse how true collaboration is done, and let the users decide which is best for them πͺ β€οΈ π @loops The backend Loops server (loopd) will be open sourced later this week! Keep in mind, this doesn't mean it will be production ready yet, and the app won't support other instances initially, that will come in the next few weeks. I'll be open sourcing the mobile app during the beta too, I want to get this right this time!
