Leveraging https://FediDB.org for community moderation and safety tools isn't a new idea. I look forward to prototyping this after Groups and the new app are released!  @dansup oh no this is going to mean yet another tool for deliberately isolating trans women... I hope you'll reconsider this but not holding my breath.

 @dansup would really prefer autoplay was off by default. @dansup would really prefer autoplay was off by default. I find autoplaying immensely annoying, and I always turn it off Good crawlers identify themselves, like on https://fedidb.org/crawler.html Recently someone reported an issue with submitting their instance and after some investigation it was determined they or their hosting provider is blocking our user agent. After I wrap up a few things, I will jump back to FediDB and add robots.txt support for easier exclusion.

I have a couple of friends who love the idea of Pixelfed and would gladly use it already as an app 😎  I love what you do and the idea of helping with discovery, but... basing it on popularity rather than the users unique interests just recreates one of the big problems of traditional silo media, the two caste system. First you have the "upper" caste accounts (aka "Mr Beast"s) who got popular early and then snowball as being popular means being more recommended means being more popular ad infinitum. Then the lower caste will never be recommended as they're not already popular. |

@pixelfed I was curious about Pixelfed so I wanted to download it on my phone. Apparently the website only leads to a Google Play store link, and the code repository has no documentation nor built APKs.
By excluding F-Droid in this toot as well, I guess it makes sense the direction you are taking with the app.
Unfortunate.
