 @dansup I feel you on that. So much I want to build but not enough time or energy to build everything 😅 Wow, 7455 accounts on https://pixelfed.social have selected at least 1 pronoun, that's roughly 10% of all users! I will be updating this feature to remove the predefined list of pronouns to allow for freeform input! https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/blob/dev/app/Services/PronounService.php#L59-L99 I wasn't able to finish Post Edit support in the #pixelfedApp Was hoping to ship this tonight, but it's 6am and I spent a lot of time refactoring the onboarding screens so it will take another day or two 😅 I'm happy with the progress I was able to make tonight though, onboarding is important and is now much better! #pixeldev

 @dansup as I see migration mentioned in one of the screenshots: is there a how-to for that somewhere? I had a look last week and didn’t find any instructions on how to move between Pixelfed instances :) ⚠️ Feedback wanted! I'm working on improving the @pixelfed app onboarding, and want your feedback on the new sign up flow. Does this do a good job at conveying the choice of communities to join while providing an easy default instance to join? @dansup it's trained on data scraped on the web, it's not intelligent, I can find this information myself on a search engine and mayne change it up a bit to make it look like this. I'd like to think that if he were still alive, he would support the fediverse, it aligns with everything he stood for. You may be gone, but you are not forgotten ❤️ I ran into quite a few issues when I first implemented :pixelfed: Live It's quite complex when you think about it, not only are you broadcasting an audio/video feed but you also have presence (concurrent viewers), comments, reactions and broadcaster metadata that need to be realtime and scale. I look forward to shipping the new version, blog about it and nerd out on the technical details 😁 The feature is pretty cool, but I'm more excited about geeking out explaining it in a blog post 🤓 @dansup any chance it can go into the main Pixelfed app? Heard you have to have a special app for now?  @dansup IIRC @atomicpoet was also working on a streaming platform with s colleague of his. Will the protocol/API be compatible? Crazy to think just a year ago I was learning react/react-native and began working on my first mobile app, Pixelfed Live! Now I'm considering rewriting the webUI in RN, would be so nice to share code between the web and mobile apps and maintain a single "frontend" UI. So proud of myself, and I'm thankful for all of you who pushed so hard for an official mobile app.

 @dansup @NGIZero @pixelfed BRILLIANT would be awesome to be able to post to Instagram and pixelfed. It would encourage people to #DeleteFacebook and #DeleteInstagram but this means Pixelfed is now Supporting also normal Text Post without Images ? Approval based registration is coming to @pixelfed Similar to Mastodon, users will be able to register and be placed in a queue for admin approval before their account is made active! This should help instances deal with spam sign ups. Admins will still be able to generate and share invite links to bypass this if approval mode is enabled. Users will soon be able to share invite links too, if their admin has enabled them. Lots of exciting updates on the horizon 😁 So based on that poll regarding providing your sms number during registration, I don’t think this would be worth it. As @grishka pointed out, it gets expensive to send SMS, and others have mentioned how easy it is to get temp sms numbers. I will not be pursuing this for Pixelfed, and thanks to everyone for your feedback! #pixelfed #pixeldev  |
