If I were to build a new #ActivityPub project today, it would be generic.
Giving instance admins the ability to pick and choose what activities to support in a modular way would be awesome.

Added a "Mark as Spammer" moderation tool to #Pixelfed. One click to remove spam and prevent it from appearing on public timelines! #pixeldev #ActivityPub #fediverse @dansup Specifically for pixelfed.social, do you see accounts that only post advertisement as 'excessive advertising' as prohibited by the community guidelines, or does it need to be 'spamming', like repeatedly posting the same text/image? @dansup Is this moderated somehow? Otherwise there might be a danger of possibly banning non-spam posts because of some dispute between fedizens. Air conditioners are now sold out everywhere near me, this is a historic heat wave for us. I have a few on order, hopefully they show up soon (I have one already) 🥵

We've had the same story with fans last week. People fought over last ones at stores.
[DATA EXPUNGED]
Hello new followers! The names Dan and thinking different is the plan. "Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do" I don't want to be mean, but Tusker for iOS by @shadowfacts is my favourite Mastodon app. It's like Tusky but for iOS and doesn't annoy me. The official mastodon app has a few things that annoy me like: - Muting audio (don't pause my music when nothing is playing) According to https://fedidb.org, there are 19418 fediverse instances using one of the 65 available ActivityPub projects. The average instance has 395 users and 67k statuses, and 153 new instances have been observed in the past 2 weeks. So why does https://fedidb.org/about claim (right this moment) there are 6060 instances and 73 projects?
Hi @dansup Other than the website, are the #fedidb tools accessible and operational yet? I didn't try signing up, as I have no use case atm, but keep hearing #activitypub devs telling they cannot use the services. See e.g. here: https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/querying-activitypub-collections/1866/20 Listening to a new tyler the creator album while refactoring the :pixelfed: frontend. Real 2019 vibes.

@dansup I want to convert to metric and celsius, so, what do the numbers feel like in the heat? Going to be warming up to -18 tomorrow! My city is the 2nd coldest place on earth today, summer please 😅 Updated the join link on https://pixelfed.org to point to https://fedidb.org/software/pixelfed until the new instance picker is ready. I'm working on a new instance picker that will be easier to use and filter instances based on interests. Stayed up all night working on :pixelfed: and I start work in a few hours, minds well stay up 😅 You can now filter :pixelfed: features on #fediDB! https://fedidb.org/network?s=pixelfed&pxf_stories=on&pxf_mobileapis=on |
@dansup Interesting.
@dansup
Yes. Exactly this!
And please don't get me wrong if I was criticising monolithic projects.
It was exactly _right_ to get pixelfed up fast and working. That was most important to incubate fediverse but I think now it's time for generic servers (and diverse clients).
About “modular”:
I am working on https://github.com/redaktor/widgets-preview/ [using dojo.io, similar to React]
and all widgets take AP objects natively and then you just need to decide by type(s).
But modularity is hard and takes time :(
@dansup JFC yes please. All these turnkey apps crimp admin creativity so hard.
