"Gmail recently announced they will start monitoring bulk senders who transmit 5,000 or more emails per day and Yahoo is following suit." About time... I was invited to speak at the https://ngiforum2023.eu, but unfortunately I cannot make it to that event. Perhaps I can go live on @pixelfed and have an impromptu presentation instead 🤔 @dansup I removed the Top 20 lists from the fedidb.org homepage until I can implement better filtering Someone alerted me to an instance listing that may contain CSAM and I promptly removed it Sorry for the inconvenience! ✨ ICYMI: https://FediDB.org recently added - 13 new software projects [1] https://fedidb.org/site/news @dansup @dansup @pixelfed I don't know if this is the right place to make suggestions, but it would be nice to mute all posts which don't actually have any photos. There are some peopleon non-Pixelfed instances (mostly Mastodon) who I follow because they mostly post photography, but sometimes they post or boost text posts, which is a bit distracting, and not what I am there for. Closed registrations on https://pixelfed.social While it has 98K users, only 7K of them are monthly active The fact that it still runs on two VPS is pretty cool, though there are some much needed performance improvements before the app is officially released 😅 The https://pixelfed.org/servers has dozens of open servers if you are looking to join!

https://fediDB.org is a valuable resource for the fediverse in many ways I'm aware of the lack of opt-out and robots.txt support In the near future, #fediDB will respect robots.txt rules, and provide a manual opt-out feature to remove your instance on demand So proud of @pfefferle for all the hard work they put into the official WordPress plugin. Kudos 🙏

@dansup Probably they should say that those "anonymized" web statistics are in fact less anonymous than expected. "The Company is a U.S. company and some data infrastructure are located in the U.S." ✨ 13 new projects (on Friday the 13th) Just added 13 new software projects to fedidb.org! - #Activityrelay The new `avatar:storage-deep-clean` command was able to cleanup over 400GB of avatars from pixelfed.social! Consider LRU caching for files you download from remote servers. Basic idea is that you have a configurable storage limit for all downloaded files and you keep track when each of them was last accessed. When downloading a new file would exceed the limit, you delete oldest files until there is enough space. Federation and media processing are slightly backlogged on pixelfed.social We are cleaning up old avatars with about 200k jobs remaining! Edit: We're back to normal with the exception of IG Import, we expect significant delays in import processing for the next few hours |
@dansup wait.. they weren't yet.... ??
@dansup hard limit of 10 a day should be enough for anyone.
