Closed registrations on pixelfed.social

While it has 98K users, only 7K of them are monthly active

The fact that it still runs on two VPS is pretty cool, though there are some much needed performance improvements before the app is officially released 😅

The pixelfed.org/servers has dozens of open servers if you are looking to join!

@ramsey 16G DO droplet for the app/cache server and 4G droplet for the database

The db was on the app server until last Nov, the surge required some slight scaling out

@dansup Which other instances support login with Mastodon? I made an account, but later got to know that I could login with Mastodon, so I deleted my old account, and now I am locked out because you closed registrations. 😅

@dansup I have one of the inactive accounts. I created it because I was comparing different Fediverse implementations at the time. If this is in any way inconvenient, I can remove it!

@dansup I really would want to migrate away from pixelfed.social onto my own pixelfed instance to make room for others but it’s unfortunately still unclear whether pixelfed-to-pixelfed is supported yet and if so, how it works (see GitHub reports on this matter as well)…
