One of my favorite YouTube videos from 2009 about the internet, technology and media, predicted that smart phones would be the primary device in 2020. Should I post the full video? Before the gay: ... After the gay: Audience, do we agree we lost an ICON? Awe. Get better soon Wendy. Working on Curated Onboarding Templates so @pixelfed admins can define reusable responses to more efficiently curate applications! I also refactored this to better filter applications that require admin action by default. PS: I ❤️ Curated Onboarding, it's more than proved itself on pixelfed.social There are a dozen or so microservices that power various aspects of the @pixelfed ecosystem. For example, our mobile app uses Beagle for the Discover tab, and Recovery to help users remember what instance they joined. It really do be just one guy from Canada (me), so your support for Pixelfed is greatly appreciated! My early investments in spam prevention for @pixelfed are still paying dividends! Autospam has proven to be very useful in detecting and helping mitigate spam, as well as several design decisions we've made like hiding DMs from accounts you don't follow by default. The recent spam wave had limited impact on Pixelfed, and we look forward to pushing the boundary further! Edit: Shipped!! https://pixelfed.org/servers ✨ A simpler, better server directory for @pixelfed (with Curated Onboarding support!) Shipping soon! 🚀 Guess who just discovered a new Autospam training source?? Curated Onboarding requires applicants to include a "reason for joining" and the action the admin takes can be used to further train the Autospam data! @dansup I read third line as KDE Software instead of KDK, and I was going to ask wtf is going on xD @dansup yeah but then you exclude those of us who genuinely want to PROVIDE THE BEST NDA TRAINING TO THE STUDENTS Pixelfed Curated Onboarding is working great so far! EDIT: Shipped! https://pixelfed.blog/p/2024/feature/introducing-curated-onboarding ✨ Pixelfed + Curated Onboarding Admins: All you need to do to enable this once it's shipped is to navigate to the Admin dashboard -> Settings page and toggle the "Registration Status" setting, then tap "Save" No .env changes or cli commands required. Shouldn't everything be this easy? Most of it is with @pixelfed 😉 @dansup @pixelfed I think all software creators should be required to take a class with you on how to write clear release notes / share tips / keep people up to date on the roadmap and the status of upcoming features. I’m not even on Pixelfed but I follow you just because I enjoy watching the progress. @dansup @pixelfed https://archive.org/details/cym-corp-1/CYM%20Corp%207/ Successfully tested Curated Onboarding on my staging instance, we're moments away from it being merged into @pixelfed! @dansup @pixelfed as you are allowing plus-addressing in the email, maybe a "there are X other accounts with the same plus prefix" and "there are X other accounts on the same mail domain, of which Y are disabled, Z are blocked, N have spam reported" as a good indicator (maybe a "domain trust score?) And as a bonus note that gmail is super special; the local part (left hand of @) one can insert dots anywhere: eg d.a.niel.super.nault@ is the same address.. fun for antispam scoring... Also, in case you forgot, I wrote a tool that you can use to convert Mastodon blocklists to Pixelfed format and vice versa! It's a simple html page, so you can clone it and run locally if you desire! I'm also working on a radical approach to federation, @pixelfed admins will soon have a game changing approach to manage federation. Imagine being able to filter federated activities from outdated instances that have open registration enabled, with a single tap. Forget importing blocklists, we're making it more simple and easier to manage federation. Pixelfed makes moderation easy ✨ @dansup @pixelfed This is important and should become a standard across fedi. We shoujld be able to set policies that prevent potentially compromised instances from communicating with ours until updated to a safe version. This also solves the problem of absent admins, their instance will fade to irrelevance if they ignore it too long. |
@dansup this is certainly true in developing countries, mobiles being the primary device people use to get online.
@dansup This has the best phone ever made. Sony Ericsson w810i
@dansup it happened sooner than 2020 too!
