@dansup Can I add a feature request here? Posts with multiple images are so mobile first that they are very impractical on desktop. The only indication that there are more than one pic are the dots at the bottom, which you might miss if the contrast is "right", and you have to click and drag the pics with your mouse. Having some arrows on the sides that you can click, and that fades away when you don't mouseover the pic would be nice, and the ability to use the arrow keys on the keyboard too :) This is how migrated accounts will appear when logged-in, I'm still not sure of the design, feedback appreciated!

@dansup why do you want to keep the old account visible instead of creating a (maybe owner controllable) redirect like 301 to the new account? Pixelfed Account Migration will transfer your followers to another Pixelfed or Mastodon account! We could limit this to only other Pixelfed servers, but why? The ability to easily migrate your followers between platforms and servers is what makes the #fediverse special ❤️

@dansup can't help but notice how bad the experience of migrating on fediverse is, with these red walls of text and back-linking... It's taking longer than expected to finish the account migration feature (take your Pixelfed followers to another PF or Mastodon server) I'm like 90% done though, and hope to wrap it up and ship v0.12.13 later this weekend! @dansup Is there any plan to enable migration of posts to another server? It seems like rebuilding the followers list is easier than manually transferring hundreds of photos. As a result, I find myself torn between two Pixelfed and one Mastodon server. @dansup awesome news, fellow Canuck 🇨🇦 Do you mind sharing any pitfalls or stumbling blocks you encountered? Pixelfed v0.12.13 will be tagged later today, some notable updates: - Curated Onboarding https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/blob/dev/CHANGELOG.md (4 releases in the shortest month 😅) Any idea what could cause this? cc @youronlyone @dansup Is the version supposed to be semver? If so, why not bump a minor version here? Seems like a lot of features are included, which is great! @dansup Good thing you got the real one! @dansup @pixelfed As a Mastodon admin I find the ability to leave notes for myself in future (or on larger instances, for other administrators) very useful on revisits. I also notice that there's no 'remove account' functionality exposed here, and I can see reasons for that, but there are times when "delete everything here and do it as quickly as possible" might be important. I just shipped an update to the @pixelfed Admin Dashboard, you can now review and handle Remote Reports! https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/pull/4962 (Soon we will federate local reports of remote posts) I'm still dogfooding Curated Onboarding* on pixelfed.social, and working on some related moderation improvements! We will transition back to open registration next week. Not me writing a new mock ActivityPub server to test @pixelfed It works, and doesn't even use a database! Very useful for sending "fake" activities to my local pixelfed dev instance. This is like the 3rd iteration, the original fediDB was the first and was really useful for debugging AP until I refactored it into a fediverse stats database. Bluesky pls, you can't have all the fun! I built a PoC Labeling Service for @pixelfed, and I look forward to sharing more details soon! #pixelfed #pls #pixelfedLabelingService #bluesky #labelingService @dansup Wait till you play "The Perfect Heist 2" with Friends...What do you mean with "Its Monday"?? I'm going through the backlog of Curated Onboarding requests to pixelfed.social/.art, over 500 so far! Convergence - a YouTube video from 2009 predicting the future of the internet and media. I've saved this video in 09', it's one of my favourites! Hope you enjoy this time machine back to 2009! @dansup one of the creators (Karl Fisch) was the technology director at my high school. Here’s a reupload of his first video. I remember watching it in a history class in ‘08, really blew our minds. https://youtu.be/ljbI-363A2Q One of my favorite YouTube videos from 2009 about the internet, technology and media, predicted that smart phones would be the primary device in 2020. Should I post the full video?

@dansup this is certainly true in developing countries, mobiles being the primary device people use to get online. @dansup it happened sooner than 2020 too! * depending on how wide your view is (includes Africa / Asia, include youth or not) |
