This is awful to read, including other harsh responses in the thread. To be fair, having generalist server like #MastodonLOL was destined to fall and turn out to be a moderation hell.

I hope that instance admins don't take away a bad lesson from this. Instead of keeping a vague representation, be explicit about what crowd is welcome and support the cause of decentralisation. Instead of weighing admin duties solely on yourself, delegate early.

@nathan Thank you for keeping up this instance, and I also agree with your views here. In the LGBT discords that I'm part of, the majority of people also thinks exactly the same way as you do.

I still hope that you find a solution to keep mastodon.lol alive in some way. Is there a team to help you moderate, could the situation you describe above have been prevented? There should not be such a burden on your shoulders alone.

I don't like to lose this community because of some stupid game...

This appears to be a response to the thread that developed when Nathan said we had to stop posting spoilers for the Potter game, something sections of the trans community are doing in an act of attempted self-defence.

I took exception to that, as did many others. It felt like and feels like the needs of people who at best... 1/
