@nathan In the middle of migrating, I'm going to say this: Nathan is not a TERF. Nathan is not a Nazi. Anyone saying that has lost the plot. This appears to be a response to the thread that developed when Nathan said we had to stop posting spoilers for the Potter game, something sections of the trans community are doing in an act of attempted self-defence. I took exception to that, as did many others. It felt like and feels like the needs of people who at best... 1/ 4 comments
@nathan If this is the case, then this is about the admin's feelings being hurt and their fragile emotional health. That's not ableism and it's not a criticism of Nathan. I have my own issues and I both sympathise and empathise but that doesn't mean I have to agree with his position. My opinion is he's on the side of the Angels and I wish this hadn't happened but it has. I have no ill will towards him - far from it and I hope when it calms down he'll decide to continue. One thing tho... 3/ @nathan This has REALLY shown the systemic weakness of having one person in charge of a large instance. They become both the single point of failure (closing the instance if they get overloaded, by work or emotion or whatever) and the single arbiter of decision-making that requires them to have either a cast-iron constitution (highly rare) or the psychopathic self-assurance of a CEO (cough musk)... 4/ @nathan In short I wish I'd followed my instincts and found a smaller instance months ago.I'm referring to Nathan in the 3rd person because he's said he's not checking mentions, by the way. @nathan ...don't care about trans folk enough to not buy a game and at worst are doing it to add yet another poke in our eyes, were being prioritised over us.
It felt, and feels like bad allyship. Not being a TERF, not being a Nazi, but bad allyship. Cis folk telling trans folk to pipe down.
I accept it's more complex than that, but if this thread is the cause of Nathan shutting down the instance of 20k people then it's important to get this out there... 2/
