@tty we might leave cell tower range tomorrow tho, so I'm not sure I will be able to update for the next 2-3 days. @neauoire Safe travels! When y'all come back into cell range I will most likely be a person who owns a sailboat. :) @tty that's so exciting!! I'm really happy for you :) free from the clasp of landlordship and your inconsiderate neighboors. If we come down through the inside passage, maybe we can stop by the sunshine coast to see you on your new home :) @neauoire It's a dinghy, so just some temporary freedom from those things. ^__^ @tty Oh! Okay :D Is it something that you can put on deck? Or, a full on sailing dinghy that you need to keep in a club? @neauoire It's a little 13 foot Laser! The mast comes out, so it could operate as a sailless dinghy potentially, if that's what you meant. @tty ah yeah okay I know those :) You can't drag these around, but we've anchored in bays near sailing schools and they zip around, looks like a lot of fun! @neauoire Yeah! I think I'm going to learn a lot, and build a lot more confidence. I'm curious what you meant by "drag around" though! @tty Put it on deck between destinations, and use it to carry water and supplies. @neauoire Aaah, yes, I see now. Agreed, definitely not a good use-case for this craft. Desolation is really desolate outside of summer, we don't encounter anyone anywhere. @neauoire sounds dreamy in a way... though I'm sure gets old after a week or two @klardotsh It's nice, we've been here in peak motorboat activity season, and it's like.. you don't see any birds, all the wildlife runs away to hide from that all noise. @neauoire @klardotsh yea, I was gonna say, being at Refuge Cove at peak madness isn't any better. It's a such a fucking mess XD... (there's 4 hours of free courtesy moorage to run errands, so the constant shuffling, and ensuing wakes, makes it crazy). @ruby0x1 for sure! There's no light pollution up here, we might be able to see them 🤞 @neauoire almost for sure, it's so strong today, seeing them all over where unusual I think! I'll try anyway from vancouver but alas 😅 @ruby0x1 I hope you get to see some as well! Will report back tomorrow : ) @neauoire while not super bright to the naked eye cos of city lights, they were visible and I could easily see them vividly with a phone camera @tim_lavoie We'll be coming up quadra tomorrow to wait for yocultas : ) @tty yup, we passed it and are heading toward whirlpool rapids @neauoire Congrats! Are you trying to get through the whirlpood rapids today too during slack tide? Good luck! @tty we are yep, we'll be there in about an hour and we're hoping to be able to duck into Forward Harbor before the wind gets really nasty. Day 12: Frances Bay, Desolation Sound -> Shoal Bay, Johnstone Strait @neauoire woahhh, such an amazing view that comes across my timeline. Thanks for sharing, I hope you enjoy it as much as I dream of it :) Day 13: Shoal Bay, Johnstone Strait -> Forward Harbor, Johnstone Strait Day 14: Forward Harbor, Johnstone Strait -> Port Neville, Johnstone Strait @neauoire Wow! You two have been making such regular progress. ^__^ @tty it has been many long and exhausting days. We're looking forward for a few days of calm weather that we can stay put and relax. It's nice to see the waypoints on a map like this <3 Day 15: Port Neville, Johnstone Strait -> Telegraph Cove, Johnstone Strait @neauoire Is that strait particularly busy? On my OSM map I see many ferry lines! @tty It's an artery for people transiting to the north of BC. There's ferries, cruise ships, and lots of tugs pulling log booms. Day 16: Telegraph Cove, Johnstone Strait -> Port McNeill, Queen Charlotte Strait @neauoire Congrats y'all! Almost out to the open ocean. 🌊 |
Day 8: Ballet Bay, Jarvis Inlet -> Sturt Bay, Texada
