Game porter Ethan Lee offers services to maintain old games for developers https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/game-porter-ethan-lee-offers-services-to-maintain-old-games-for-developers/ There's a lot of fuss over the Starfield "Steam Deck Essentials" mod, but it keeps repeatedly massively breaking the game. Don't use it. It breaks lighting, has broken saves etc. Not worth it. @gamingonlinux They made a change in one of the updates for the mod that modifies the reflections config on the low setting and that is what's causing the lighting to be funky, from what I can tell. Get a bunch of live-action FMV games from Humble Bundle, all Steam Deck Verified https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/get-a-bunch-of-live-action-fmv-games-from-humble-bundle/ @gamingonlinux The Complex has been on my wishlist for a while then I saw one of the others has Paul McGann in so that settled it. I have one loaded up on my Deck ready. @gamingonlinux Thanks for the tip. I didn't even know they still made FMV games. Enjoyed them back in the Philips CD-I ages. Anyway, just bought the bundle and enjoying Mia and the Dragon Princess on the #SteamDeck Valve goes for the smurfs banning 90,000 people in Dota 2 https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/valve-goes-for-the-smurfs-banning-90000-people-in-dota-2/ @gamingonlinux This game is running itself into the abyss, so that eventually noone will care about it anymore Building a Retro Linux Gaming Computer Part 32: Two Steps Forward, One Step Back https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/building-a-retro-linux-gaming-computer-part-32-two-steps-forward-one-step-back/ @gamingonlinux Red Hat Linux 7, I guess? Haven't seen this for ages! That was the first Linux distribution I installed :) Got bored so gonna chill with some #Starfield live on #Linux. Come watch me not have a tantrum over pronouns @gamingonlinux Here's the most popular Steam Deck games for August 2023 https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/most-popular-steam-deck-games-august-2023/ NVIDIA Vulkan Beta 535.43.09 and stable 535.104.05 drivers out now https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/nvidia-vulkan-beta-535-43-09-and-stable-535-104-05-drivers-out-now/ Here's how Starfield runs on Steam Deck and desktop Linux https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/heres-how-starfield-runs-on-steam-deck-and-desktop-linux/ I found a mod that downscales the textures and tweaks some other settings. I can run the game at 1080p with the Deck connected to my TV and using the in-game FSR 2.0 feature it looks good. On some planets and cities it is still around 20 FPS, but the latency is good so it's possible to play. In indoor maps I get up to 40 FPS (which the mod seems to lock to). @gamingonlinux It's still not generally working if you use a Nvidia card unfortunately ๐ข @gamingonlinux tried it on Linux desktop last night and half the scene didn't render. Neither of the NPCs had arms or legs and most of the elevator or whatever your riding isn't rendered Feels like adaptions can never win. Itโs not a 1:1 copy - โthey changed this raaaaa!โ It pretty much is - โitโs too similar raaaa!โ

@gamingonlinux not much of an anime fan, but I definitely struggled with the cowboy bebop (one of the few anime I really love) adaptation, something was just very off, but then that fits for a lot of Netflix produced shows and movies... @gamingonlinux Their main complaint boils down to the fact that it's not as impactful as the original because it's an abridged version of it, but with the series being currently 1000 chapters long, it's simply impossible to "commit" to bringing everything to the live action. It's a fair review but their negative point about it choosing a middle ground is actually a strong point for me, you just can't have everything and rewriting the entire thing is simply also impossible. The amount of people losing their shit over having pronouns in Starfield is just hilarious. Absolute melts ๐คฃ๐คก

@gamingonlinux hardly surprising at this point, between steam deck and proton you can play more games than ever on Linux. macOS have fragmented between intel and arm CPUs and many developers didnโt rebuild their apps with 64bit support after 32bit was dropped. Some games marked as working donโt and others do when marked as broken. Easier to dualboot on intel macs. Wine 8.15 is out now, plus more Wine Wayland work submitted https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/wine-8-15-out-now-plus-more-wine-wayland-work-submitted/ @gamingonlinux lets see if the mouse in GTA3 that they broke in 8.11 works again. Otherwise I need to stop procrastinating creating a bug ticket... Microsoft: we will only use what you set when weโre forced legally ๐คฃ๐คก Their desperation to get you to use Edge however they can is just funny.

@gamingonlinux I will never not be mad that they moved Edge to Chromium. I understand it was probably very costly to have their own rendering team and all having their own engine and all But Edge before turning into basically a skin of Chrome was actually good. Like, I hated IE for years and years (and been using Firefox since 2004) so I can confidently say "If at the least the stuff you pushed wasn't some fucking degooglified shite, maybe I'd be more forgiving" Starfield on Steam Deck (hitting the big city, early access - part 2) @gamingonlinux I had a feeling the game was going to be a little rough on the Steam Deck. Especially since itโs having similar performance issues on the Series S when landing the ship in the largest city (like the one in your vid). @seanhollister yo! just want to say thanks for linking to my articles / vids now and then <3 Creature-collecting life-sim Moonstone Island launches September 20th https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/creature-collecting-life-sim-moonstone-island-launches-september-20th/ War Thunder's next major update is 'Sons of Attila', plus easier vehicle unlocks coming https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/war-thunder-next-major-update-sons-of-attila-easier-vehicle-unlocks-coming/ Crusader Kings III hits 3 million sales after 3 years https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/crusader-kings-iii-hits-3-million-sales-after-3-years/ @gamingonlinux Is CK3 playable on the Steam Deck screen or only on external screens? @gamingonlinux Television formats. Gardeners' World is still the best gardening show, Brits codified the Murder of the Week genre etc.
@gamingonlinux Football , They invented it :)
