@gamingonlinux interesting distribution of sources, a quick estimate says it's something like ~350 members at $10/m or less, plus about $2,500/m for everyone else, so $6,000/m from individuals and $19,000/m from 9 sponsors.

Hummmm... I wonder if this drive will still work after it's warranty ๐Ÿค”

After all, their NAS hard drives put themselves on warning after 3 years, even when they are still good ! Not a good thing for them.

The more I think on it, the worse it sounds. How exactly are they tracking installs? We need it to be clear on what they're tracking, otherwise that's a big privacy red flag.

And how accurate will it be? What about pirated installs? Charity keys? Etc. So many bits unclear.

@gamingonlinux

This seems like a really clumsy way to go about things. Including the fact that nobody agreed to these terms when their game was created.

Yeah one of the best Linux promoters currently! Steam

@gamingonlinux I remember thinking it probably wouldn't last - who didn't like those big PC game retail boxes?

Now that I'm older and surrounded by other junk, I'm quite happy the digital delivery worked out for Steam.

Feedback

@gamingonlinux This means HL2โ€™s quickly approaching being able to buy its own beer in the US. Half Life 2 canโ€™t be almost 20 years old now, oh my god.

@gamingonlinux as usual, parasitic investment groups ruin an entire industry. The entire gaming sector seems to be stuck in a death spiral.

@gamingonlinux They were approached with offers, so if those offers were attractive, anyone would consider selling. It's possible they truly are in trouble, but alternatively, the layoffs were only related to the one deal that fell through (which is how they put it) and Volition, who haven't had a hit game in a decade. Their strategy is to put out a ton of game offerings like publishers used to rather than like 3 games filled with MTX, so if that strategy doesn't work out, I'll be very sad.

Kiloku

@gamingonlinux they still didn't fix the weird .desktop issue where the shortcut doesn't open steam correctly on computers with discrete GPUs... I thought that one was going to be fixed quickly.

I have the NES port of Flying Shark, retitled Sky Shark. It's quite good, I might want to pick up this arcade-accurate version

@gamingonlinux Great game. I would love to see an โ€œofficialโ€ remake by Firaxis. I think they tried several years ago and missed the mark.
