@gamingonlinux I am actually surprised they know how many times players used a controller to play games on Steam.

It does kind of make me wonder what other metrics they track... ๐Ÿ˜

With all this talk of Chrome messing up adblockers, please donโ€™t use Brave. They do so much shady shit you should stay away.

@gamingonlinux sorry I use Edge, if firefox could add the sidebar for tabs nativity and the sidebar as Edge, I will back to it.

Jup, I agree. Always get a bit frustrated when people bring up brave as a alternative - when there are many other browsers that are much better then that. Also makes me wonder what Iridium ( https://iridiumbrowser.de/ ) browser will do about the changes in chrome.

@gamingonlinux please be more specific. I am a Brave user because this is the only browser that provides a way to support content and service providers. I am certainly willing to consider complaints but want specifics.

@gamingonlinux "Portal 2 prequel" sounds quite confusing in isolation. Like... the game kinda contains its own prequel lore and is a sequel to an existing game. Huh...

epicEaston197

@gamingonlinux
but didn't portal stories Mel already fill the shoes of a portal 2 prequel?

@gamingonlinux I could probably live with the AI art if the gameplay was good enough, but AI voices rules it out entirely for me โ€” I have a visceral reaction to those AI voiced YouTube vids, they make me irrationally (?) angry, I canโ€™t watch them.

@gamingonlinux
I've tried using AI as a shortcut for gaming artwork to reduce workload but I've never found it to be very consistent & this looks the same... Passable with a cursory glance but adventure game scenes are often viewed for extended periods.

So far AI art is good for a laugh but it has no vision & no genuine originality so I don't think artists need fear yet.

lime!

@gamingonlinux well, it was bound to happen.

i see a lot of people in the diy ml sphere who train datasets for stuff like this with only ethically sourced material (eg self-made or CC0 stuff). any words on that from these devs?

@gamingonlinux A friend keeps wanting me to play Dead by Daylight with them, but it uses Easy Anti-Cheat and I haven't played anything or done anything on my windows box in over a year. Running Fedora with a decent system.

Not sure if it would flag and stop me there either. Does Easy Anti-Cheat work with any games in Linux now?

@gamingonlinux@mastodon. Think Valve needs to hold some of these companies to account over the murky Linux support. Theyโ€™re selling the games and DLC to Linux people quite happily without a clear message of support or continuity.

@gamingonlinux Well I guess that won't be a problem when I get up to 5

@gamingonlinux Oh thank God. The Yakuza cutscene bug stopped me in my tracks a few months ago from going through the series. Iโ€™m going to download this right before work today and have a fun day.

@gamingonlinux It becomes the ouroboros. AI produces content that gets digested by other AI, then to other AI, then around in a loop.

Does this mean that we end up with a state of entropy decay or chaotic fractals? I donโ€™t know.

But itโ€™s clear that AI machines need fresh content more than the content creators need AI.

@gamingonlinux I am a known google hater in my circles but I truuuuuuly believe the number one threat to folks making a living on the internet is googles stranglehold on search and ads.

Bust em up. Bust em up. BUST EM UP.

@gamingonlinux What ELSE do you do with a portable gaming system?

@gamingonlinux The Steam Deck is stealing our phonesโ€™ jobs.

@gamingonlinux I am totally addicted to this game, special attention has been paid to item balancing, it is possible to build very different builds on each run. And the story mode allows you to discover the mechanicsยน and subtleties of the game gradually.

ยน For example, in story mode, there is no question of mana at the start (so no magic item), nor of hast (a very powerful mechanic for those who master it).

@gamingonlinux if I still have a contract in the new year, I may consider one of these. I have their Orynx laptop, which runs VMWare so much faster than my old Dell Win 7 laptop.

@gamingonlinux I have a System76 Lemu7 (a Clevo rebranded with label) and it gave me freezing and battery problems in general. Intermittent freezing problems still persist.
