@gamingonlinux I was just trying to decide if I was going to play this or one of the many D&D old school CRPGs. I think I'll finally play Pillars of Eternity! I didn't realize Avowed was going to share a world with the Pillars games until a few days ago and I'm pretty excited for Avowed. @gamingonlinux MSI officially announced the Claw A1M handheld with Intel https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2024/01/msi-officially-announced-the-claw-a1m-handheld-with-intel/

MSI usually makes great hardware, but that round D-Pad is a huge turn off... not a fan on intel either. I'll stick to my Steam Deck. @gamingonlinux one more to the e-waste list.... I love what Steam has done with Steam Deck, but all these copy/paste items trying to get a piece of the cake of the handheld boom is just exhausting Not saying they're crap, but I don't think they will have the long term support and reparability that SD offers Cross-distribution support improvements coming for Canonical's Snap packages https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2024/01/cross-distribution-support-improvements-coming-for-canonicals-snap-packages/
Show previous comments
@gamingonlinux I believe thatโs a whole useless effort that canonical put onto snaps, they should embrace flatpak and support the project because thatโs what the community got their eyes on and in my opinion is the better option @gamingonlinux The sandbox of a flatpak is the same on all distributions, unlike a snapยน. In addition, the snapcraft.io backend is proprietary (unlike Flathub), so this format will never be adopted by all distributions. If they really want to be cross-platform, they should start by working on these two points. ยน https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snap_(software) search for AppArmor @gamingonlinux They should keep both things, native applications and snap clearly separated instead of silently inject snap packages in apt. Thats simply evil. @gamingonlinux A corporation celebrating capitalism with special offers has so many layers of irony that I don't even know how to continue @gamingonlinux I'm torn because I love games that are in this style, but also have grown to hate capitalism. Guess I'll have to buy all these then... @gamingonlinux I hope that I live to see the day when "capitalism" is just a genre of video games and a relic of the past.

@gamingonlinux Or just a "controller" mode for the steam deck! All input is sent via Bluetooth or USB-C to the connected device! @gamingonlinux I don't have a steam deck yet but I would totally buy this first Anyway back to the usual content, I just really cannot stand AI writing and will call out anyone using it and not disclosing it ๐ I'm pretty outspoken against AI writing and I think it's lazy as hell to use it to make articles. Other creators reached out recently to note that "SteamDeckGaming" has been using it. I asked them directly, and they admitted to it. As an independent creator I think it's incredibly lazy, and ridiculous to try and pass it off as your own work. It's literally crushing the whole idea of any kind of actual journalism to use AI to write the articles.

@gamingonlinux I think itโs a great tool, but shouldnโt be relied upon as the actual author. @gamingonlinux Good idea: Using AI to build you a template for a story, then expanding on that story with your own style of writing and adding more scenes, characters, and events. Bad idea: Using AI to tell the whole story. Even worse on news articles, where human elements (including fact-checking) are expected. To me AI is a tool, that could help you realize your ideas and creations. The key is that it should assist me not overrule or replace me. A tool that helps speed up the process, and lets us focus on other things that improves the net result. People who however let an AI loose on a prompt without any personal effort are flat out using the tool wrong. @gamingonlinux in all honesty, the DMCA needs a provision to allow for things like this, and to get rid of the vagueness for fair use, and to provide better protection for content creation.
Hopeful that happens without greedy companies either poisoning it or tanking it completely.
