I'm pretty outspoken against AI writing and I think it's lazy as hell to use it to make articles. Other creators reached out recently to note that "SteamDeckGaming" has been using it.

I asked them directly, and they admitted to it.

As an independent creator I think it's incredibly lazy, and ridiculous to try and pass it off as your own work. It's literally crushing the whole idea of any kind of actual journalism to use AI to write the articles.

@gamingonlinux yeah, I mean, it feels to me like the majority of video game journalism (and a lot of journalism in general) is shit enough without also throwing AI into the mix. It's like a race to mediocrity.

Yes. I truly believe that as a creator, I think, your creativity and its painful way from a spark to a raw idea and, at the end, a creation of something that reflects your background until there in any matter, topic or format is what makes us humans.
I understand use AI to organise, find typos and other practical activities, but to create is, in my humble opinion, irresponsible, to say the least, and it can't be considered creating.

@gamingonlinux I think itโ€™s a great tool, but shouldnโ€™t be relied upon as the actual author.
Personally I utilize co-pilot as a thesaurus ๐Ÿ˜‚

@gamingonlinux Good idea: Using AI to build you a template for a story, then expanding on that story with your own style of writing and adding more scenes, characters, and events.

Bad idea: Using AI to tell the whole story. Even worse on news articles, where human elements (including fact-checking) are expected.

To me AI is a tool, that could help you realize your ideas and creations. The key is that it should assist me not overrule or replace me. A tool that helps speed up the process, and lets us focus on other things that improves the net result. People who however let an AI loose on a prompt without any personal effort are flat out using the tool wrong.
