@gamingonlinux How much L2 cache and processing units does your plot of land have, and does it support AC1 encoding? ;)

mcstaggers

@gamingonlinux I played quite a bit of the various demos. If you like city builders like Dwarf Fortress this is a great game.

Thekingoflorda

@gamingonlinux the developer is very active in their discord server, having a channel for devlogs where they post about what they are working on. Great place for fans.

TSRBerry

@gamingonlinux I was checking leagueoflinux.gitlab.io/ weekly, since a recent update broke the game until they announced the anti-cheat update.

I liked to play with my friends, but there are enough other games we can play instead that do work on Linux.

I was also a huge fan of Legends on Runeterra, but that broke as well a few months ago.
Since Riot doesn't care about Linux at all, it's unlikely any Riot game will work on Linux ever again..

Kait

@gamingonlinux I wonder if they'll continue supporting League of Legends on MacOS

Sleen

@gamingonlinux honestly it's annoying that the anti heat is the only thing stopping games running on linux.

buonhobo

@gamingonlinux This is one of the biggest things for Linux gaming in 2024!

Alex

@gamingonlinux interesting, I played it yesterday and the performance was worse than on Windows. I have a Radeon 6700 XT and a Ryzen 5 3600.

I set everything to low and I couldn't get a stable enough FPS that my monitor's FreeSync premium would stabilize on 120 Hz.

this doesn't happen on Windows, there I get a smooth performance overall. I reported these issues on ProtonDB.

David Adriรฃo

@gamingonlinux Can confirm, running Nobara, Ryzen 5 5600X and RX 6650 XT, getting around 100FPS at 1080p on high settings.

Free Soft&Hardware Enthusiast

@gamingonlinux i will have to try the new version, for me the only game launcher that has worked reasonably well so far launching Rebel Galaxy Outlaw using Vulkan Radv with my AMD 500 firepro GPU on Debian 12 has been Heroic using Wine-GE and automatically applied known prefixes, Lutris did not work at that time, Wine did not work, Steam with Proton did not work.

Here's a similar thing made for #Minetest for the game jam. It's even more impressive given how limited the UI API is for Minetest - this is actually done using the HUD API using the player camera movement to get mouse movement

@gamingonlinux Sounds a bit like Hypnospace Outlaw. Except it doesn't happen in your sleep.

Duncan

@gamingonlinux Hypnospace Outlaw vibes. Other indie games with fake OSs are available.

Chief Vermin

@gamingonlinux With the humble bundle, do you get the latest PDF as they release or just the current? I know some update their main texts at times while others just release an errata.

I have wanted to try Call of Cthulhu for some time.

Have tweaked the adverts on the website, as the ones between articles were ridiculous and Google kept overwriting the sizing restriction placed on it, even after following their own guide <_<

Should be much nicer now.

Daniele Pantaleo ๐Ÿฆฅ:verified:

@gamingonlinux "overwriting the size restriction"

This has to be illegal, the page the ads are displayed on are not provider's property

Ray Of Sunlight

@gamingonlinux Google be like

"I DO WHATEVER I DESIRE BECAUSE MY COMPANY IS JUST AS BIG AS MY DICK"

Microsoft respecting โ€œuser freedomโ€, haaaahahaha

From Tim Sweeney of Epic Games: "Congratulations to Microsoft on a well-deserved honor. From Bill Gates to Steve Ballmer to Satya Nadella, they have a 50-year track record of supporting and empowering developers to do great work, while respecting developer and user freedom. A sharp contrast to Apple and Google."

Replying to a post noting Microsoft has overtaken Apple as the world's most valuable company.

@gamingonlinux wetdry.world when they see someone talking about tim sweeney in a serious manner

peter griffin being sent to asylum i rhink (idk how to describe this image)
WORM :artix:

@gamingonlinux He's comparing a desktop OS to the two major mobile ones. To make this point, he must conveniently forget about Windows Phone in MS's history, which had similar policies as the App Store and Google Play. So you can scratch that 50-year track record.

@gamingonlinux Wonder why they don't work with Valve and actually use SteamOS? Maybe SteamOS isn't ready for other devices, or they'd need to fund the porting (which is probably done by 3rd party contractors anyway)?

Maniko => NFC

@gamingonlinux Nice to see some competition in form of a lower powered device with a cheaper price than the steam deck show up. I have a few friends who really only want to play indies on the go, but would like the modifiability and flexibility and pricing of a PC game with that, so I think this is a perfect device for that purpose!

Also super unrelated, but I wonder if some kind of "comment by Fediverse" on GamingOnLinux would be a possibility at some point. :)
