York Cathedral — capitals and pendants. A very cool friend let me take a picture. I feel like this series is my best work so far. Switzerland. 📷 Pentax 6x7 #BelieveInFilm #MediumFormat #FilmPhotography #AnalogPhotography

@Gargron That's a wonderful photo. Looks a lot like the cover of the Tapestry album. @Gargron @NotFrauKadse That cigarette shoes is it as an image from the ‘70‘s. 🤷🏻♀️ @Gargron @NotFrauKadse I really like this shot. The lighting is wonderful, and it exudes a very authentic and relaxed atmosphere. Nice work! A very cool friend let me take a picture. I feel like this series is my best work so far. Made for _one_ thing: threads! Write. Update. Organize. I’ve been dogfooding it for a few weeks. In this time, posting on here has felt like publishing to my blog. More info: https://thirdculture.app/tusks. (Boosts to reach all ends of the Fediverse will be greatly appreciated 💜)

@bardi Hey you resurrected Birdhouse! I loved that app and this concept in general. Edit: No, I'm wrong, I was just looking for something specific that I missed. This is a different emphasis and something I haven't seen before. Anyway—small apps for narrow purposes are one of the best things about the phone app medium so great work creating a new one! @bardi That looks like a nice idea for an app! Are you planning on adding support for setting the language of the post in the near future? What about multiple accounts?

i have determined that i simply attract german shitposts. i am like catnip for confused recommendation algorithms. between that spotify discover weekly thing and this, i have no other way to explain why i keep getting 3D animations with german text to speech. Stages of #Duolingo: -This is so cool and helpful!

@girlonthenet @girlonthenet so far 600+ days of fair streak. Nothing is ideal but at least this app gives a lot of examples to memorize the words and sentences. Others usually just give some grammar + a couple of samples. My main complaint about Duolingo is the repetition. It's fine at first, but when you're more than a hundred lessons into Arabic and every other question is still "what sound does this make", you start questioning your own sanity. Laying off an entire team because their manager wouldn't lay of a large chunk of the team to cut costs is the sort of penny wise, pound foolish portrayal of tech you'd expect from HBO's Silicon Valley not a company that the market calls one of the "Magnificent Seven". Here it is: my 2024 manifesto to be Mayor of London. Can any other candidate beat this? Not a chance! #VoteBinface #MakeYourVoteCount #IchBinEinLondoner

@Gargron Have you ever played around with Band-In-A-Box? It can solo on any instrument in any style. You can click in some chords and tell it to do a trumpet solo in the style of Miles Davis, and it will produce something that sounds like Miles Davis, at least for a while. I haven't fooled around with it for many years, but I have heard tracks it produced that fooled musicians. It tends to fill all the available space and gets boring after a while because it is not saying anything. @Gargron This was a good video. I certainly hope to see more creativity and ingenuity from our collective output. But I'm not sure if the "whatever" approach to all that isn't enticing enough to overshadow our best work. Spotify is a great example for that: I love music. I used to compose and perform it religiously, but today (now that my priorities have shifted), I find myself hitting the "DJ" button more and more. I find it hard to stay optimistic on this topic, unfortunately. i’ll buy you a coffee if you install mastodon for android on a rabbit https://www.androidauthority.com/rabbit-r1-is-an-android-app-3438805/

You know a company is full of shit when they start sentences in a freakin press statement with lowercase letters. @samhenrigold Well that's a relief. I was worried the $200 gadget actually had a chipset that was worth the price. This is fantastic. If you’ve got the Rabbit apk launcher plz share with me christina at christina dot is. This is hilarious. https://www.androidauthority.com/rabbit-r1-is-an-android-app-3438805/ Some more experimentation with my tungsten light setup on a willing subject. 📷 Pentax 6x7 #BelieveInFilm #MediumFormat #FilmPhotography #AnalogPhotography I still know how the developer liquid smells from my arts school years. It was something going to buy the Ilford paper and spending all that time to see what was captured. @Gargron Just realized that following someone on Threads via Mastodon is the best way to get a chronological feed of their posts 🙃

@matthewcassinelli It really cuts down on the exposure to clickbait and grift posts too. @matthewcassinelli yep, I just don’t understand why more mainstream folks won’t enable it, like @mkbhd @ijustine etc.. sorta wish it’d just be turned on by default and then give them a popup allowing them to disable it should they want to but you’d think any creator would want to expand their following base any chance they get.. @Gargron Everyone seems to be obsessed with passive income but I’m set on passive-aggressive income, so you should probably pay me back if you care even the slightest amount about our friendship and how much I thought it meant to you.

@Alice I would like to pay you back, but all of my money is tied up in Star Wars collectibles. Please stop using generated art for thumbnails and illustrations for videos and blog posts that aren’t generated themselves. It gives people the impression that the post is spammy bullshit. Starting to see people dismiss links out of hand just because of the preview thumbnail on social media

@baldur "that aren’t generated themselves": what do you want to say? Art is always generated by one or some artists. This means that a human (or even an animal) has painted, photographed, drawn, glued it etc. @baldur It seems that hosting sites (substack) are now adding genAI link preview images automatically, without the knowledge of the post author or them even appearing in the actual post. This is because on certain social sites (facebook) posts without a preview image get fewer clicks…. and clicks are everything. 😉 “Wherever you get your podcasts” is a radical statement. - "What podcasting holds in the promise of its open format is the proof that an open web can still thrive and be relevant, that it can inspire new systems that are similarly open to take root and grow." https://www.anildash.com//2024/02/06/wherever-you-get-podcasts/ @anildash I joined the Mastodon board https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2024/04/mastodon-forms-new-u.s.-non-profit/ to support the fediverse and the people helping to build it. Looking forward to working with the team and fellow board members to embed and evolve how we work. |
