[DATA EXPUNGED]
@Gargron My office desk drawn often holds some in small plastic clippy boxes or little kilner jars, at home its mostly big tins that people got me with like christmas tea and other similar tea based supplies in cleaned out with bags of other tea in (sometimes they get relabelled correctly). @Gargron I have refilled them, so I think they're technically still just "tea tins" in which they were sold, but they're round (when looked at from the top) and both look like an elephant. I think my mom bought them during a trip around Finland, from a tea shop. But that was over ten years ago. What do I do about the popout player obscuring the toot button on mobile. Disabling the popout player on mobile is probably the only viable option... 🤔 It is interesting to me how people turn what they know into what they don't know sometimes without even realizing. Like it's not a secret that I am German, but by writing "German-born" in place of "German" it's no longer correct because those are not the same thing.

For context "The platform was founded by German-born developer Eugen Rochko in 2017" in https://www.mic.com/p/inside-kolektiva-the-social-media-platform-built-by-anarchists-activists-42617028 just wait until they start turning what they know into something they know will hurt you: like referring to Mastodon as "Twitter with NAZIS, built by GERMAN Rochko"... I mean they described kolektiva.social as "built by" them instead of you so I wouldn't put it past them XD Trying to internalize the rhythm of the bridge section of The Valley by Leprous on bass :thinkhappy:

I just straight up don't click on Medium links anymore because it's all behind a login wall anyway

@Gargron use uBlock, it blocks it, I think. If not I've seen some other solutions, but I don't remember how were they named. Updated mastodon.social to latest code from the master branch. Personally a fan of the new streaming API mechanism that allows the whole UI to use just one connection instead of having to open separate connections for each timeline.

@Gargron I'm on Safari and I have to refresh the page often to get new toots. Is there something I can turn on or off to have Mastodon stay up-to-date across all columns? @Gargron What the possibilities to fix, for a hub administrator? ;)

@Gargron hello Eugene. Question. Do you know about interesting profiles to follow that you can recommend me, please? One thing I wish #Ruby had was private methods in modules, so that I wouldn't have to worry about polluting the classes that include those modules with various module-internal helper methods. @Gargron @Gargron there are some tricks though. Like evalling on "Module#included" . Solution worse than the problem, though. My take is that if you want private methods on modules, modules are probably not the right solution. You probably need a refactored inheritance chain instead.

@Gargron I like the angel in the Old Testament that held a sword to Balaam in the talking donkey incident I built a custom platform for joinmastodon.org sponsorships on the gold/platinum tiers (those are the ones that get a medium-sized logo/link on joinmastodon.org) using Stripe. I don't think the Patreon tiers are going anywhere but this alternative method has some advantages over Patreon for both parties. (I'll go into more detail in a follow-up post) The billing cycle isn't bound to the 1st of the month, so you have no risk of being double-charged if you pledge near the end of the month; if you're a business in the EU you can use your VAT number to not get charged VAT; there's an annual billing option with a 10% discount; uploading your logo is more straightforward than having to message or e-mail me. And on my side, Stripe takes far less in fees than Patreon (~2.5% vs 10%).

@Gargron best thing about that movie is that it's an accurate snapshot of Toronto geography and 00's culture. @Gargron I have a source in Pennsylvania who informs me that the slowness of the count is because a recount is expected and they want to be doubly triply sure.

21 hours in the morning, as I like to call it when my sleeping schedule goes to shit like that. Or, alternatively, there's always a relevant xkcd. |
So order a delivery?
@Gargron Godspeed.
