So what's going to be in #Mastodon 3.3.0? You can read the full changelog here:

github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/

Account suspension become reversible, which makes moderation mistakes a lot less catastrophic. You can get notified when someone you follow makes a new post. You can continue watching/listening to something that's playing when you scroll away. Media modals look better. You can block sign-ups from IP ranges. Finally familiar hotkeys in video/audio player. And so on...

@Gargron Reversible suspensions, huh? So when am I getting my .social account back?

:ggc: Niklas

@Gargron I didn't notice the change with notification permissions before.I'll fix that with the next Halcyon update,too.What I don't fully understand is the change with the poll notifications.Does that mean that in future,I'll only get notifications for my own polls and not for the others I participated in?And thanks for the featured hashtags API endpoint.That allows app developers (including me) to make apps features even closer to the web interface.What I'm still missing is the same but for featured accounts.That could replace the AI-powered who to follow on profile pages.

Five Element Ninja

@Gargron I am. Thanks to WFH I'll be able to watch it live every day and won't have to rely on recaps.

I’m back home after an interview for a documentary, it is nice how warm it is at home

Sebastian Higgins

@Gargron even without the Russian part it's somewhat weird to see SQLite & Excel & JavaScript to be in the same list. some kind of data processing stuff?

Jazzaria

@Gargron Missing Klingon.

On my mind as I recently made a track featuring Klingon choir - jazzaria.bandcamp.com/track/a-

@Gargron honestly that's why I forgot to buy my candles til Right now

Deadly Headshot

@Gargron #Advent starts 4 sundays before Christmas. The whole "December for Advent Calendars" thing is a consumerist version so they could standardise production and make more money.

vattuvarg

@Gargron - The Liturgical year starts with the first sunday of Advent.

Oblivion_Wonder

@Gargron Is the mango like dried crushed up mango pulp?

I'm a pretty huge fan of Earl Grey and I've mango powder in my kitchen somewhere so I might try to make a version.

@Gargron Oh the tyranny...

youtu.be/eQji1bEXwc0

2020 and 2021 are supposed to be decade-defining years and possibly even a precipice for chaotic behavior like totalitarian leadership.

@gargron Oh it's so much worse. In a few weeks, the French State has:

- generalized portable cameras for the police
- legalized drones
- legalized facial recognition
- enforced Muslim children being associated with a unique ID
- forbidden filming the police
- appointed the prefecture (national police) to decide who's a journalist

@LaQuadrature have aptly put emphasis on the use of drones and facial recognition to repress demonstrations and they've forgot to mention that drones might do an excellent job at continuously patrolling and linking the faces of Muslim citizens to their unique IDs, for example to raffle them.

The national police is already discreetly raffling undocumented people; they don't want the public to know this but I've witnessed them raffling a black market in search for undocumented persons.

Possibly made a mistake by washing a newly arrived tea caddy. It seems the tips of the 4 small bolts inside (holding a plaque on the surface) have rusted.

The queue is long af but it prints too rarely. I sent one like 2 hours ago and it still isn't through. Still love the idea!

Richard Jasmin

@Gargron try reporting bugs to major linus distribution...never stops.

I still confuse "library" and "subscriptions" on YouTube. It doesn't help that everything that's in "library" is listed separately below: "history" and "liked videos". I don't know why it even exists.

@Gargron Ok go on Mr. President, you have a successful mastodon pod, of course naturally you can judge YouTube on the details

Markie Tee (thats me)

@Gargron I'm still not sure what youtube-Music is doing in place of PlayMusic.. I was perfectly happy having my 'youTube' play music vids on it's own... And, now my converted PlayMusic library is a mess. 🤔

@Gargron
I just use Invidious. The official Youtube frontend is both unintuitive and extremely CPU intensive for some reason.

I think I'll rather uninstall Destiny 2 than download a 49 GB update

@Gargron Mew I feel this way too Gargron

I had that call of duty BR game installed but I'd get on my Xbox to play Mew Mew Kitty Ranger or some shit, and I'd see that call of duty wanted to do a 30gb update
And this just kept happening so I just purged it

I wish these big updates were much more rare honestly

Mike Flugennock

@Gargron I haven't updated IOS on my 2015 iPhone SE in over 3 years for just that reason.

Tie my goddamn phone up for 14 FREAKIN' HOURS while IOS updates? Nahh, thanks; I think I'll pass on an IOS update that slows down the phone and makes the battery drain faster.

Administrator

@Gargron With Destiny, that 49GB update is actually *reducing* the overall size of the game -- it's gone *way* down after that. From like >100GB to now only 59GB.
