Mastodon has introduced me to the joy of reading descriptive #alttext. I take in the image then read the text as icing on the cake. It can really add extra personality to images.

Sign-ups are up approx. 27% compared to previous month with about 90K new accounts, while the MAU has jumped to 894K (across all Mastodon servers).

This is Jiji , he is named after the Jiji from Kiki's Delivery Service. He is very soft and thick. He also has a goofy side, it's all of him, all of him is goofy.

Sammy is weer fris en fruitig zo te zien. 😻 keep coming back to the realization that tux is like one of the best character designs of all time. something about his facial expression. he looks so Head Empty. and the way his feet are faced towards the viewer really emphasizes how he's just sitting on his ass and not doing much of anything. all of that combined with the bold, high-contrast black-and-white with the bright yellow-orange accents? it just screams Yeah Sure It Doesnt Work. What Am I Gonna Do About It? Nothin :)  @jk not the OS for users who prefer to get shit done by screaming at others to fix the damn thing. that would be a different bird mascot i think. an angry bird perhaps.  all the other classic software mascots are on the level of "a planet with a face" or "this is the window manager gremlin Hehe" or "our distro is represented by The Boot from Monopoly" or something. at some point they started either getting motivational, like "we all stan Software Project-chan and want her to succeed!!" or just becoming abstract logos, rather than characters which is a shame. like, when i boot up the gamecube emulator i want to have a chat with a fully-animated dolphin, please  Same shoot, different look. 📷 Pentax 6x7 #BelieveInFilm #FilmPhotography #AnalogPhotography #MediumFormat

 @Gargron Serious question. The beauty of analog photos is that you click and then you see what your camera got, no filter, no photoshop, etc. But if you scan an analog photo, how do you make sure that the digital version fully depicts that photo, with no changes in colors, light, saturation, etc.? Is there a perfect way to scan analogue photos so that the digital version is the most authentic possible?  @itchio@mastodon.gamedev.place will this only work with Mastodon® or do you intend to support other things on the fediverse as well  @itchio it doesn't seems to work, I can't see the tag in the html, maybe it takes time to appear?  @itchio Aaa thank you! <3 Right after "this is great", my second thought when I read the first post was "now if only they added the creator metatag as well." <3 🔗 Seems like people are moving around between social media apps so new profile link options now available on your account settings page: You can set Bluesky, Mastodon, and Threads accounts by revealing the "More Links" section. All of these links will appear on your profile page. Links added will have "rel=me" inserted on your profile so you can get a green check mark on your mastodon profile!

  @itchio Hey there! That's awesome! I added my @ on my itch.io page https://yamakyu.itch.io/ and added the page to my profile. Do I need to do something else for the verification? This is the first time I do this  This cat's name is Peaches and she likes to sit on the office chair and pretend she's the boss (she and her brother really are the boss but we don't tell them🤫 )  I took my kitty to the vet today. We officially adopted her and found out she’s a boy, so Isabel has become Is-a-boy lol

@TechConnectify maybe this is only a thing in the UK but cooking instructions always have two temperatures listed, one for conventional ovens and one for fan ovens. I don't think I have ever not used the fan mode on an oven (except for grilling) @TechConnectify The portion sizes look like they would be quite small. I enjoy crafting alt-text for all to enjoy; in fact some of my best work is in there.
@coffee4danz I worked with many blind patients in my career and know the value of ALT text. I spend a lot of time describing my photos. Glad to hear it's working so well for you.
