One more update: The `fediverse:creator` metatag is now inserted into game and blog post pages that you have authored when you assign a Mastodon username to your account.

This will enable itch.io link embeds on Mastodon to show author attribution of your fediverse account. Learn more here: https://blog.joinmastodon.org/2024/07/highlighting-journalism-on-mastodon/

You must opt-in to the domains that are eligible for attribution from Edit Profile > Public Profile > Verification (and scroll to the bottom, add itch.io and your own subdomain)

@pikario @itchio I think it might only appear on pages where you're the sole author. Of my two Itch projects, it appears on my comic (solo), but not on my collab game.

@eishiya @pikario @itchio also keep in mind that the Mastodon server needs to have itch.io allow-listed for this feature, to prevent abuse, so even if the tag is included in the embed, it might be ignored.
