I added a rough version of our Southeast Alaska sailing route to our live map(runs through land at times, and it doesn't include anchorages)
It's fun to see it next to our past routes ^___^
I added a rough version of our Southeast Alaska sailing route to our live map(runs through land at times, and it doesn't include anchorages) It's fun to see it next to our past routes ^___^ Completed a zine that teaches the basics of multiset rewriting programming with examples and also includes the source for a tiny Fractran interpreter. Thanks for everyone who sent feedback, I've included the suggestions. I'll have a bunch of those at Handmade Seattle next month, if you'd like one, just come and see me and I'll give you a copy :catclock: "A poem is when you hear the heartbeat of a stone." From the book "Ceci est un poème qui guérit les poissons" (This Is a Poem That Heals Fish) by Jean-Pierre Siméon, illustrated by Olivier Tallec. Any Merv wanting to (or planning to) attend Handmade Seattle and need a hand financing that? I’ll be buying a ticket soon and am willing to sponsor another ticket or two for others // or reimburse financially constrained folks who will be there. Please DM if interested. Decompressing after closing out a series of readings online tonight to launch Dark Mountain's latest anthology, Dark Ocean: exceptional ideas — in prose, poetry, and imagery — from around the world. Thank you so much @neauoire, @rek and @chainik for your support. You can order the book here: https://dark-mountain.net/product/dark-mountain-issue-26-dark-ocean/ @ccohanlon I really enjoyed it :>! Hearing your words with your own voice for the first time was really special. streaming at https://twitch.tv/wondervilleNYC i’m talking in about an hour (gonna livecode some RSS) I am very happy to announce that Rabbit Waves is out! The idea for this project came after @neauoire & I were discussing the disappearance of certain traditional seasteading skills and maritime communication knowledge. We believe these skills are valuable when electronics misbehave, but they're also just generally fun to learn and to use. All of the art is drawn by hand :>! We will add more content as we go!

This Friday, 18th October, Dark Mountain is launching its latest anthology, Dark Ocean, with online readings by some of its contributors (I'll be among them). The event starts at 7.30pm UK time and is free, although you do need to register via Eventbrite. https://dark-mountain.net/events/a-dark-ocean-launching-do-join-us/ After a few sailing seasons, this is what our anchoring gloves look like. They were not protecting my hands much in the end :neofox_laugh_sweat: So long gloves! Have a rest, you've been through enough. Sigil 12

First spontaneous reaction: love this! It draws me in, intrigues me, makes me wonder, makes me stop to look and open up. Thank you! 💚 Kokorobot.ca now has a light mode! I'm not sure why I didn't do this earlier, all of my other sites have a light/dark mode :flan_shrug: As an adult I am embarrassed to say that I learned very late how to care for my teeth. I wrote this short post to share what I have learned.

@rek thanks a lot for writing this up! One thing that neither you nor replies have mentioned is using an electric toothbrush. Dentists here in the UK mention it on each visit and it did make a huge difference for me. You don't have to push so hard (so easier on the gums) and it still cleans better. The batteries are tiny so wouldn't add much load on the boat, but the ones that clean the best unfortunately have irreplaceable batteries so you end up having to replace them every 5 years or so... @rek Pino anchored in Bargain Bay, near Pender Harbour last month, taken by friends of ours that were anchored next to us :>...

@rek reading your book "Busy doing nothing" right now. Can't believe you passed the ocean with that little boat. @rek yes! And I find it impossible to say without sounding like I am putting on a fake New York accent, even though I am not. "Parking Tickets is a long-running show inside the I’m a Virgo universe. It’s a monologue-heavy, moralistic cartoon where every character is undergoing some sort of emotional turmoil. No one is okay or getting by. In some ways, the live-action world of I’m a Virgo is similarly afflicted. While Parking Tickets is somewhat of a moral compass of the show, its cartoon nature is inherently simpler than the real world Cootie lives in." I really loved watching I'm A Virgo by Boots Riley(director of Sorry to Bother You, an EXCELLENT movie), I highly recommend it. Fixed a few issues with the font for Hakum. Had bad kerning between n & l (the word only comes up a LOT haha~), also moved the apostrophe, hyphen and plus sign higher :neofox_cool: Font is still not 100% perfect, I fix it when I have time. I'd also really like to add glyphs for french(é è ê) at some point ^^ I am really glad that I kept notes on font-making, because it's been a while since I've made this, and when opening FontForge again I couldn't remember where to go to fix the kerning ^^;... "I'm sometimes asked why I'm having to plead for crowd-funding. How have I failed so badly at life?" My latest update to Liz Cullinane's Go Fund Me appeal for us. And yes, I have noticed that these are (maybe) getting a little weirder. https://www.gofundme.com/f/a-voyage-in-search-of-home The appeal closes at the end of this month. @ccohanlon You have not failed. You've been failed by all the countries that have made you leave or kept you out. Would you tell all the other migrants who are just trying to find a place to survive that they are failures? Try to extend the same grace to yourself. I can't speak for your other contributors, but I've supported your peregrinations because it is just a fluke of fate that I have not found myself in similar circumstances. |
@rek You might've crossed paths with Tally Ho at some point! They were sailing in the area for a month or two and then returned to Port Townsend for the wood boat festival.
