I was commissioned to make a game for No Quarter this year!
The Poppy Grower is a tool-assisted solo journaling game about an agricultural worker growing poppies on an asteroid, played in a proprietary fantasy OS.
Opening this Friday at NYU Game Center in Brooklyn. RSVP is free but required!
Spoke with Hyperallergic about some of my current work, the garden as a site (which, despite the headline, is equally a site of dystopias), my animals, "datasets", queerness in isolation and through the landscape, as well as my wants for queerness in culture
@abundance i greatly enjoy “I am one of many animals in this world, and in that vast relationship of connections there are so many thousands of ways to be present and to be witnessed, what is my gender to a crow?”
@abundance I enjoyed this interview! Especially grateful for your inspiration touchstones. Some names (George Gessert, Ursula Franklin, etc.) I had not heard and am excited to look into.
Drift Mine Satellite is a maintenance text adventure about a person living underground in a limestone mine, and their work on the local communication network that has sprung up there.
It is a utopian apocalypse fantasy, a forever-camping world narrowed to linear miles of RVs parked under a mountain, the people who live in them, and the systems that interconnect them, both social and material.

Drift Mine Satellite was commissioned for the Sun Thinking exhibition on Solar Protocol, a network of solar powered servers that connects from whatever server is in the most sunshine. It is programmed for the browser, with low-energy use and computational power front of mind. The entire story is told via spatialized text - no images, no libraries, just divs and textboxes and basic javascript. I truly hope you enjoy playing it.

Music from Ben Babbitt, halina heron, Geotic, Adobo, Jún, Smokey Emery, Sadurn, Zac Traeger, SamanthaZero, and Eli Rainsbury and supported in part by Arts Council England.

i've tagged out 600+ open source, experimental and tiny tools by their qualities and built a new website for sorting through them!
these are all tools towards joyful digital creation, with the goal of enabling working entirely outside of proprietary systems- moving instead from one hand-made software to another.
(the list takes submissions if it is missing yours >:))
i built a tool for quickly scrubbing metadata from images and selectively painting / blurring faces and identifiable features. it runs on a phone or computer directly in the browser, and doesn't send info anywhere:
@abundance Hi Everest, do you know if No Quarter is one night only or if I can go other days as well?
