This NDA stuff is showing who Meta consider to be the shot-callers within this network, and also which of those shot-callers recognise themselves as such. I thought this was an *open* network; Why are these discussions happening behind closed doors? If Meta have no intention of embrace, extend, extinguishing this place they'd tell us what they're making. If the shot-callers here care about the health and diversity of the network they'd not allow themselves or anyone to become shot-callers
If Meta can't show the basic curtsey of entering this network with the open-ness and transparency people expect from open networks, how can we expect them to ever be trustworthy or acting in good-faith? *Especially* given their proven track record of already being *actively dangerous* at a global scale in a humanities sense. We have no obligation to sit at the table with these people. Get them blocked, and get them blocked before they even arrive

I'm afraid you are right. We can be found just about anywhere we want to be left in peace and just have fun and talk about stuff with people who aren interested in the same stuff.
The privacy functionality should be in place before any general search is possible for users. :blobsad:
@Shrigglepuss maybe a silver lining is that it will force Eugen to eventually find a real solution, rather than the leaky, half-assed privacy options that are currently available.
A fedi-tip or whatever it's called for people that follow a fuck-ton of people by accident like me: Make a "friends" list of the people you're closest to and mostly follow that instead (add it as a tab in Tusky, or a column in the advanced web view, or whatever your app can do), and dip into the regular following list for a few mins while you're waiting for the kettle to boil or something. Much nicer and more meaningful connections, and best of both worlds really x
Also get out of the habit of scrolling for hours, I dip in for a few minutes here and there through the day and if I miss something I miss something, no big deal x

A fun bit of trivia about this touchpad btw is that it's manufactured by Toshiba and not Asus. Toshiba knew better than to add it into their own laptops it seems
When making a joke always consider: Who is the joke for, and is anyone the butt of the joke? If so: Who and why? Is it causing harm or dog whistling or a microagression? I'm not naming names but a lot of people are scummy as fuck with their shitposts here and really need to reflect on this. Their willing audience also need to consider what they're really seeing beyond just the "lol" section of the joke from their own perspective, and consider how reading that nonsense can feel to others
That is to say, a lot of people here specialise in shitposts that on the surface to most people appear harmless or just a silly bit of inconsequential edgy fun, but to others create an awful hostile and toxic environment, particularly rooted in antiblackness and ableism to name the two key examples I see on this platform the most. And even worse, people join in riffing on this awful nonsense and the poison spreads from there really. Let's be a bit more considerate yeah?
