The new Pixelfed mobile app will preserve media aspect ratios, no need to tap to view the full image as photos will be rendered to preserve native aspect ratios😎

  @dansup Looking really forward to that update! I found most bothering that even if I tap open a pic the viewport stays limited to the area it takes when fit to the screen by its width. Maybe that's fixable too? 😬 Reports are now finished in the new @pixelfed mobile app! This was one of those small but essential todo items. You may be surprised to know that Apple and Google require the ability to report user generated content if you have user generated content in your app There are also other requirements, like hiding adult content by default and allowing users to block other users on social network apps. Looking forward to shipping the app, gosh it's like so close!!! Reporting problematic posts or comments should be easy And having the ability to hide specific comments on your own post is an essential safety feature This is why we're making reports easier, and working on federated comment controls After all, you deserve more control over your posts and comment sections, and we're going to show you how it can be done ✨ We're aware of some issues in our Account Migration feature that prevents a proper migration. We're working on a fix, and will update you when we ship the fix! We have created a new Matrix channel that we can properly moderate! A pixelfed video is normally not the same as a peertube video, so it would make sense to see each post via a UI adapted to it. Maybe even add some indication about which kind of service the post is coming from (something that indicates “this is a mastodon post” in a clean way), or add filters/tabs per serv. (…) Yes our new open source Pixelfed app will support Android, and all the features from iOS like Share Intents. It already does ✨ Shipping very soon

Regardless, you can audit our app code yourself to verify we aren't doing anything sketchy

  @dansup you could try to delay that message by doing the first local network request after asking the user frist explaining what it is for. To give more context to users, so they are not confused. AFAIK this is not a permission like the others where you can insert a reason string in the plist.   @dansup I was wondering, when creating a new post on Pixelfed, could we have an option to paste an image in, please? Tried to create a post, the other day, from a [temporary] screenshot image, only to find I couldn't paste it in. Pixelfed app + Share Intents Easily share photos and videos directly to the new Pixelfed app 😎  @dansup It would only be "easy" if you could configure the apps and their order, which Apple displays in the share dialogue. I appreciate your patience regarding the @pixelfed, @loops and @supapp apps I'm now almost finished re-writing the main Pixelfed app from scratch, using best practices, and in the open! > git clone https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed-rn The new apps will be everything you expected, and more 😎

 @dansup Every now and then I check in on the fediverse to see "what's dansup up to?" As most of us know by now, it's always something good, but a bit of a surprise on the specifics. So, wow, a complete re-write of the Pixelfed app. You are a special human (or a really convincing robot, can't tell). We are working on a new feature to self-label media as AI generated In addition, we're building this into feeds and discovery so you can opt-out of AI generated media posts with a single click!
