People’ve been complaining about yellow background on my website. So naturally I’m exploring other options. What do you think?
People’ve been complaining about yellow background on my website. So naturally I’m exploring other options. What do you think? Remember Microsoft bragging about 10 seconds (!) startup time as something positive? Fun times @nikitonsky Why, did it get worse again? :) (It's super slow in absolute terms still)

@nikitonsky either way you’re handing the special case of default port numbers in your code. Feels like a separate normalisation/presentation step would be preferable. @nikitonsky as usual, Shannon is relegated to a support character in one of those :) According to this, I have ~1 week to finish Cyberpunk campaign, ~3 weeks for the entirety of Baldurs Gate 3, ~3,5 weeks for new FromSoftware torture, a week to try out MK1 and just 3 days for next Cyberpunk DLC. No sweat :) Gotta say, path tracing in Cyberpunk is a bigger deal than I expected, even compared to ray tracing ultra. It’s a final piece of the puzzle that brings everything together. Without it, some objects just look alien in the scene. With it, everything plays by the same rules. And it adds to the feeling, a lot One more example. Notice how flat garbage bin, planks and pipes are lit. Also notice lack of shadows from them. All fixed in path tracing version. And your brain instantly believes it, because they are supposed to be there А что это за рейтрейсинг такой странный, что там такие тени не получаются бесплатно? В этом же вся суть рейтрейсинга? @nikitonsky “09:30 pm” irks me a little — no need to zero-pad a 12-hour time. The rest is beautifully simple. Left: It always confuses me when picture is placed outside of header. Like, in this case, this is the photo of Fractal Design Terra, but it looks like it’s a leftover from a previous section. Right: my version. No confusion @nikitonsky Anothet 👍 of your version: very rarely a picture is self-explanatory (even if it's a diagram). More often than not, it's best to start with textual description and then follow up with a picture. Even in this case, in the original version, one would look at the picture, read the header below, and then look back at the picture - which just interrupts the attention flow on the way to the content below. Of course, only if the reader could guess that the picture is not a left-over. 😅 @nikitonsky agreed. left looks like an unrelated, injected ad you have to scroll by to get to the actual content. Newer USB versions be like USB 3.2 Gen IIA3 2/4 and I'm sure this won't work with them @nikitonsky counting down to perfection. I like the idea of having a finite number of releases to get things right. I imagine feature creep would become impossible. @nikitonsky у нас сервер так на работе живёт - блоки питания сгорели, оригинальные не купить, пришлось взять обычный блок и поставить снаружи. Good morning everyone! Especially those without job. Let us spend this week coding for fun!

@nikitonsky I'm reminded of this quote from Buckminster Fuller: https://jamesconroyfinn.com/quote/specious-notion @nikitonsky just opened replies to see if someone asked about twitch streams already. Not disappointed! Someone even wrote an error message for this case that should never happen in a sanely designed system

@nikitonsky not sure if you’re asking that seriously, but I’m pretty sure that’s German keyboard layout with English language (for autocorrect and the like) or vice versa @nikitonsky Recently did the same thing somehow. Then couldn't delete the second one. I had to edit something in the registry according to guide from Reddit. It’s also kind of a weird situation for me. On one hand, they let me to work on Humble UI during employment, for which I’m super grateful for. On the other, why change the agreed conditions retroactively? I’m really confused by this sort of generosity |
@nikitonsky 💯
@nikitonsky keep the yellow one; people who read blogs not via RSS should suffer :^)
@nikitonsky 👌
