 PSA: The panic button features built into F-Droid break when targeting newer Android SDK versions (e.g. #targetSdkVersion) due to new restrictions. It might be possible to get them working again, but we currently do not have the bandwidth to maintain this. We welcome contributions to get it going again. Until then, removing the panic features looks to be our only responsible course of action. #CalyxOS includes built-in panic features like app removal, so that is a recommended replacement.   @fdroidorg Talking about MRepo: for those of you feeling it important that their #Magisk #Modules, too, are #OpenSource you can add the IzzyOnDroid Magisk Repo to MRepo: https://apt.izzysoft.de/magisk It currently holds 102 modules, all of them under a #FOSS license and with their source code transparently available. We have defined a secure and usable architecture for decentralized package repositories that any mobile user can use and understand possible risks. The next official release of the official F-Droid client will widely deploy this to our users. We then plan to make a final architecture document, so others can understand the whole model. (: Unlike Google, F-Droid does not force developers to publicize their name or address information. We understand that people have many reasons to develop under another name than their legal one and to keep their personal information private. And that what matters is the trust between user and developer, not private details of their lives.  Does f-droid have the ability for developers to get paid, or is it only a free software repo? We'd like to start posting regular updates about new apps and updates in our repository. What frequency would you prefer? Anonymous poll

  @fdroidorg What I'd really like is a notification from F-Droid every time an F-Droid-hosted app goes closed source (à la FBreader, Mendhak's GPS log, others). I'd happily do my part and forward to F-Droid any scuttlebut I hear about such turnings.
We regret to inform you that Mastodon has decided to leave the F-Droid Reproducible Builds project. Going forward, Mastodon updates on F-Droid will be maintained by the F-Droid team and signed with an unique per-app key generated by F-Droid. If you installed Mastodon through F-Droid, please uninstall and reinstall it to keep receiving updates.

 @fdroidorg We did not leave the F-Droid Reproducible Builds project, because we never entered it in the first place. It was not an active decision by us; F-Droid manages their own app repository and decides which apps go in and how they are built. Our development process results in two artifacts, a AAB build for the Play Store, and an APK build that is published on GitHub, both of which are made from the same 100% open-source, GPL code.  @fdroidorg Wow. I don't use an app for the Fediverse, but spreading lies - and getting caught - will hurt your project. This needs a hell of an explanation or i am done with your store. What a cheap shot, didn't expect this.

@fdroidorg You write: "Be sure to install version ≥ 1.0.20230405." The F-droid app is undergoing major changes: Faster and smaller updates thanks to a new repository format. For this, we needed to change the entire app database. To ensure that there are no regression we need your help: Please install the latest alpha version of F-Droid 1.16 and report anything unusual.

 @fdroidorg when I refresh in F-Droid, I get a message saying no files were found for the KDE repository but all others updated without error. |
