What is the fiscal impact of extreme weather on our economy?

Assessing fiscal risks from climate change is a critical and challenging issue, but extreme weather and climate events may pose risks to debt sustainability.

Find out in our latest publicationπŸ‘‰europa.eu/!BW3tM8

"A wonderful person, great democrat and champion of the multilateral world order has passed away.

I mourn with his family, his friends and all the people of Japan.

This brutal and cowardly murder of @AbeShinzo@twitter.com shocks the whole world."

- President @vonderleyen@twitter.com, 8 July 2022

@EU_Commission Wasn't Abe embroiled in multiple scandals, from war-crimes denial, Moritomo Gakuen corruption/scandal, his refusal to admit refugees, etc

I understand the condolences to family & friends, but calling him a wonderful champion of multilateral world, is a bit stretch.

What do hydrogen, quantum computers and satellites have in common? πŸ«§πŸ’»πŸ›°οΈ

They're all key technologies to reach climate neutrality by 2050.

Our #StrategicForesight report identifies 10 areas for action to maximise synergies between the green and digital transitions in the EU.

An illustration describing key technologies to achieve the green and digital transitions.

@EU_Commission These claims go entirely against the consensus in the field.

The projected growth in AI, blockchain, IoT will lead to a massive rise in emissions, not a reduction. And contrary to your claim, none of these technologies is essential in reducing emissions.

Quantum Computing is unlikely to be mainstream by 2050 and has currently no promise of energy efficiency. There are much more promising compute technologies. Space-based services cause emissions in the upper atmosphere which leads to additional warming of those layers, making global warming worse.

Please check with experts before posting things like this.(fwiw, I am an expert in low-carbon and sustainable computing so green & digital transition is my area)

@EU_Commission is it possible to access that report with a modern web browser? The site requires a heavy load of Javascript.

We have a deal on the common charger! πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ί

This means more savings for EU consumers and less waste for the planet:

πŸ”Œ mobile phones, tablets, cameras… will all use USB type C
πŸ”Œ harmonised fast-charging technology
πŸ”Œ unbundling of sale of chargers

@EU_Commission WHAT IF I LIKE OLD STANDARD WITH USB MINI ?!

:umu: :umu:
@EU_Commission but it also should be conforming implementation, no custom fast charging protocols, no reusing Type-C formfactor for something else

@EU_Commission this project is so wrong in so many levels that I don't even know where to begin. This opens a terrible precedent, to say the least. Where do we draw the line? What are the other illegal activities that will justify undermining fundamental rights of individuals?
I am so disappointed, for me the EU Commission was a beacon of hope in these dark times. This project tells me otherwise. The scariest part: the lawmakers most certainly know this better than me #chatcontrol

People fleeing the war in Ukraine need our immediate support.

We have paid €3.5 billion to help EU countries welcoming refugees so they can offer food, accommodation, healthcare, education, jobs and more to those in need.

@EU_Commission thank you for an important initiative. It would benefit a growing number of people on IPV6 only networks if social.network.europa.eu had IPv6 connectivity, as, like fossil fuels and other resources, IPv4 addresses are becoming scarce.
