SMMs need to gather comments, and develop responses with their communications colleagues. @kgerloff @EU_Commission @alsternerd The resources are of course limited and various teams compete in all organisations to get their piece of it. If you want to improve the stance of social media teams, how about a new law that obliges institutions to respond to social media comments? (*irony off*) The current common duty "to inform the public" does in my view not allow to deduce an obligation to react on social media and without an obligation there is often no funding. If the EU organisations wanted, their social media managers could presumably accomplish quite a lot with suitable empowerment and a bit of training, as well as some support by comms colleagues (e.g. key talking points for policies - same as the spokespeople get). I invite you to apply to the EU organisations and find out during a five month traineeship more about the working realities.
