Early this year I was working on a GS alternative and realized I made a mistake storing remote profiles.
In frustration, I dropped it and I started a new project with that in mind.
That project became pixelfed! #noRegrets
Early this year I was working on a GS alternative and realized I made a mistake storing remote profiles. In frustration, I dropped it and I started a new project with that in mind. That project became pixelfed! #noRegrets I can't wait for :pixelfed: to join the fediverse in 2 days! This feels like a dream, I really can't thank everyone enough for the support ❤️ My brother said a few people have asked him about pixelfed because my niece keeps telling people about it. She is still my #1 :pixelfed: fan :blobaww:

I have never had a side project take off like :pixelfed: before, feels crazy that people are still using it daily even though its not finished. Thank you fediverse! I promise I won't let you down. ❤️

"What I want is that feeling when you're in the rain, or a storm. It's a shiver at the edge of your mind, an atmosphere of hearing a sad, distant sound, but it seems closer - like it's just for you." ActivityPub was only finished in March of this year, its awesome to see so many new implementations. The summer isn't over yet 😉 @dansup here's a list, if you have any to add: https://ethercalc.org/fediverse-stacks @dansup Yeah... dang! It's hard to believe just how much happened this year :O "Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do." #changeTheWorld

@dansup the spirit of Silicon Valley - made this photo at the 49‘ers Stadium where exactly this phrase is presented! ❤️ "That this world that we imagine in this room might be used to gain access to other rooms, to other worlds, previously unimaginable" I've heard that in Burials 'Come Down to Us' song many times and today I looked up the reference. Its from Lana Wachowski's HRC Award speech. She is known for directing the Matrix movies with her sister! You should watch her speech, its quite powerful. Correction: She is known for directing the Matrix movies with her sister Lily! * I apologize for misgendering her, I was not aware of that when I made this post. @dansup what a great speech. Thanks for sharing. I don’t think I’ve ever heard her speak before, I’ve only heard how guarded the Wachowski sisters are of their privacy. She’s very impressive! And very sweet. Imposter syndrome is real. You just have to work through it and eventually you will see the truth. If you know anyone working on an ActivityPub project and they need any advice/feedback/help or want to spread the word, tell them to DM me! I am more than willing to help or spread awareness! #activitypub #fediverse

@dansup Did you write all the ActivityPub code in Pixelfed from scratch? I'm a #php #symfony dev just getting into the fediverse / ActivityPub and I was looking to see if there were any ActivityPub php/symfony implementations available as composer packages, and I was having a look at your code on github 👀 @dansup have any camera/photographic clubs looked at Pixelfed? I wonder what if any features would make it a handy tool for camera club websites? Some of them for instance handling subscriptions and keeping a calendar, must be best managed by integration with other tools, I'd think. @dansup it feels like your being unfairly harsh on Gitlab because (guessing) your next ActivityPub project is going to be a federated code platform. |
@dansup What's GS?
Hilariously I now know all about #Pixelfed, and have no idea what GS is. Nice going @dansup !
