Taking a break from the app to work on some AP dev tools, I missed the meeting this morning but I promise I’ll make it up to y’all 😎💅

awesome! I will say, something that popped out to me right away - I personally liked how previously on discover I could see different hashtags to explore posts in. The newer layout feels more sleek but I miss that a bit. Where would I be able to see trending or interesting hashtags now? Is that still possible? Maybe a separate tab next to posts and people could be nice? 🤔 @dansup hallelujah! Btw I thought you added log in with Mastodon to the app? It's that time of year that falling leaves and wind start triggering my cameras, winter is coming ❄️ @dansup I installed a motion triggered spotlight to help scare off a skunk and burnt through 15% of the battery one very windy evening. 😅 At least I was able to get a pack of stickers and the logo pin, THOSE STICKERS ARE ADORABLE!!! it looks really bootstrappy, and it is for now, the big thing is the SPA/vue3 redesign. I can polish it later. I'm building a whole new UI from scratch using modern tools, fewer libs, no jquery and improved accessibility/low-data support. everybody: monopoly bad, i want freedom me: *makes pixelfed* everybody: no not like that, i want one fediverse account

@dansup ehh trade offs, I bet we get a multi instance account scheme at some point The reason I'm making Sup. is because the @pixelfed app is already huge and I wanted to split the DM into its own app similar to Messenger. It has the possibility to become useful to other projects and that's really exciting, and if it outgrows me and Pixelfed, I will do what's best, even if it means handing it over to someone else! The Sup. beta will launch in an ephemeral state without encryption and partial federation support, while we work out the final details. The timeline for encryption + full federation will be a few weeks, during which users will be able to beta test the UI and other features, and devs can test encryption. Spread the word 📢 Quick question - are you building all of this from scratch or are you leveraging any of the technology or approaches from the OG federated messaging system: XMPP? If the answer is "no", I just hope that you're not reinventing the wheel unnecessarily (or developing a server that precludes an XMPP interface in the future). Keep up the good work and godspeed shipping your MVP. sup beta in 12 days!! Android first, then iOS and F-Droid/GPlay later. Both server and apps are open source, but we'll be limiting our beta to our "home server" for those that use our apps (self-host full stack).

@dansup There are only Martian drugs if there is Martian life. Drugs are all complex molecules built by genes in cellular machinery. People could make new drugs in labs there, but no more easily than they can make the same molecules on Earth. Maybe there's some you can only make in a lab in zero-g. Space-station might be the best bet for new designer drugs. I think it's more likely popular opinion of taxpayers will shun space development than alcohol interests and taxation models will extend to space. So... 4? @dansup in my opinion the buttons directly below the photo's are a bit to big (they distract from the photos). Besides that, it looks nice :) I'm at a crossroads, and have some important decisions to make regarding the news of the app UI sunset. I have no doubt that NativeBase will still be supported beyond the next few months, so: I can move forward with feature dev and a public app launch next month (and delay refactoring) or I can start refactoring the app now, and delay public release and new features until the new year

@dansup And urge the community to pick up (some of) the refactoring @dansup I can only speak for myself, but the main reason I haven’t started using Pixelfed yet is that I’m waiting for the iOS app to be released. @dansup launch now for sure. Even just for your own sanity. Get help to run the server though (if you haven’t already) and maybe even open source before you refactor. |
