Working on the @pixelfed app refactor and omg it’s so much faster and responsive on both Android and iOS It even supports offline mode, and many more optimizations! I can’t wait to ship this, it hurts to see such negative feedback wrt the current app (though I agree it sucks on Android) and I can’t wait to blow your minds with this new version 😎 PS: the new app is open source, follow along at https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed-rn Ruh roh, the hashtag police are out, hide yo hashtags!! While Pixelfed has a max hashtag limit of 60 per post, a majority of posts contain less than half that I checked the reported account and the hashtags they use are related, and the account has thousands of (legit) followers so who am I to play hashtag god?? If you get offended by the # or context of hashtags, maybe they aren't the problem 😬 @dansup hey man, sorry to tag you here, but I'd like to ask you to check out a message to hello@pixelfed.org email with the subject line “failed registration”, thanks! Omg, I fucking love Digital Ocean ❤️ Hands down the best hosting provider for devs and fedi admins

I'm a bit frustrated with Android at the moment, I've spent hours tonight trying to upgrade the Pixelfed app to the latest RN version (and the tons of deps we use) I'm nearly there, I can feel it... 😅 @dansup this exact experience is why I haven’t returned to react native. I largely enjoyed the development experience, but dependency updates broke the app every damn time. Help sustain the development of :pixelfed:, https://fedidb.org and https://fediverse.info Please consider donating or boosting this if you can. Every dollar helps! ▶️ https://www.patreon.com/dansup ▶️ https://opencollective.com/pixelfed ▶️ https://liberapay.com/dansup/donate Our project wouldn't exist without your support, thank you ❤️

@pixelfed maybe pixelfed hackathons? to solve issues? @pixelfed increased my donation! I hope you’re doing well, thank you for all your work. You bring lots of excitement to this corner of the internet and I’m very grateful to have an alternative to Instagram. Stop platform hate, create or collaborate The #fediverse isn't perfect, it's the best solution we have You can make a difference, simply by participating in a project/platform and suggesting ideas or reporting bugs You don't need to know how to code to make this place better, but if you want to make a bigger impact, it does help We need to stop shitting on fedi platforms like Mastodon and see the fediverse as the competitor to centralized social platforms

Between Pixelfed, Groups, Loops, PubKit and Sup, I'm struggling to meet my self-imposed deadlines to a degree that I'm delaying several journalist interviews I was planning on working on Loops tonight, however I noticed our Pixelfed TestFlight build expires in 13 days so I had to jump back to the Pixelfed app, and now I'm working on Push Notification support It's not a big deal really tho, I work better under pressure and love these challenges Press: Pls wait a min, til we're ready to shine ✨

I work at my best under pressure at the last minute, too. That said, while it was productive, I also learned that doing it that way consistently just burned me out. It works well for a while, but after a while it can be stressful and counterproductive. Take care of yourself, @dansup. Working on @pixelfed app push notifications! Admins: We're working on the Beacon service that will proxy Push notifications, make sure you set a public contact email so we can message you when it's ready for your instance! Service: https://beacon.pixelfed.net We just shipped a backend update and new TestFlight build to fix in-app registration! We recommend admins update to resolve this issue. @pixelfed I ve downloaded your app but it doesn't let me make an account. ”But Mastodon also has [...] a lot on its plate including integration with Threads“ It's lines like this that makes me completely unable to take those calling for a hard fork of Mastodon seriously. All Mastodon do for Threads is the same they for any fediverse developer having issues federating with them. (And there's certainly limits to that) Along with perhaps writing more FEPs to standardize behaviour, which benefits *everyone*

@thisismissem mmm, I think they’re talking about the inevitable scaling needs that come with handling all that federation traffic @thisismissem You often make perfect sense, and I often feel a bit guilty going on about quoted posts. But only because I saw us in a race to capture journalists. That ship has sailed. But we can now pivot and let Threads lure them in, then contribute new tools to support them and everyone else. |
@dansup @pixelfed I will be waiting for it 🙌🏻
@dansup 😢
@dansup @pixelfed This looks nice and snappy! Is there an iOS version by chance?
