Say what you want about Arch linux and it's community, but Arch wiki is awesome source of linux information (basically suitable for any gnu/systemd/linux system)

Was tempted to use some low-level framework with c++ to make a game for game jam but it seems I’m better of using Godot because I would probably need ready to use 2d physics engine and easy cross-platform builds at minimum

I still haven’t made a single Godot game currently, so I don’t aim at much achievements for 10 day deadline

Fedi is the only place you can suddenly form cult in the name of yourself without doing anything

Interestingly, what is more obscure and strange about me, my hobby of lewd text roleplay on the internet or my obsession with linux and foss software?

I start to like Signal a lot more recently, just because it actually has ui/ux not worse than usual messengers while actually working and having proper end to end encryption

It is not anonymous, has some small issues like not having proper message editing feature, and does not support UnifiedPush yet (FOSS version of Molly still works with background connection better than Telegram with google firebase, and Google reliant versions have ability to hide massage sender and contents)

Matrix may be more anonymous and decentralized, but I guess I would rather recommend Signal to friends fron proprietary platforms and irl than any of barely working and not straightforward to use stuff fedi people would preffer

Why Telegram notifications are working so crappy? I cannot get them consistently through google firebase and keep-alive service always makes my ram go non-existent because of a memory leak
Tired Bunny :bunhdcomfysleep:
Time to try out opensuse (on a VM, but just maybe...)

Pulling friend to Signal from Telegram success! :mokouyes:

Small reddit migration related recommendations to newbies:

- There are a lot of servers, also called instances or even nodes. Their fundanental differences from subreddits is that they are actually owned by different people (not just created and moderated by them), they may use entirely different software, but people from them can interact with one another freely

Software like mastodon and pleroma are twitter alternatives with every post abd reply being post, kbin and lemmy are reddit alternative that have groups simmilar to subreddits, there instagram alternative pixelfed, and youtube alternative peertube - they all allow interacting with one another, though with several technical limitations.

-

Since servers are open source, there is alway open to use API! Don’t be afraid to use third party apps from Play Store, App Store, or, ideally, F-Droid “store”. There are also “legal” bot accounts that do stuff from posting anime pics to posting AI-generated text based on dataset from people who made them.

-

If you wish to get along with existing community, please follow local etiquette

1.

Do alt text for images you post, even nsfw :cirno_heh: ! It helps visually impaired, people that have trouble concentrating on visual content, and more.

2.

Read instance rules! There are less people per instance, so checks are through and moderators care, and if you don’t like rules on instance your on, migrate to another. (Instances can also block each other)

3.

Know that commercial accounts are not welcome here. This, of course, usually excludes small things like individual people that make something to sell, or small local businesses (though there is usually nothing to do for later here), but big companies usually receive backlash for just coming here

4.

Don’t believe everything said on the internet. There are servers like brands.town and gosuslugi.social (russian) that made entirely from parody accounts, there are people who are only here because they were banned for conspiracies on other platforms, etc.

I feel like I would be using Arch Linux a lot more, and actually install it on a bare metal, if would not for a fact it specifically avoid sane defaults in favor manually doing stuff, by design

Though, with now I am having a lot more experience in linux and additional laptop I can experiment on, I plan to try it out with more thought as I slowly seek a new distro in light of being unhappy with recent Fedora news.

When even Arch desktop is way more simple and straightforward to set up than Alpine desktop, you can guess why no one uses Alpine for gui stuff aside from Postmarket and rapspberrypis alike

First thing linux greets me with after a week of not using it is black screen ten seconds after booting into kde :comfy_cirno:

Anti-bot idea for tf2:

You usually get webpage in "Movie" screen when you enter custom server. What if it would tell you that you need to pick a specific class (excluding sniper since it is a usual bot pick) upon entering or you will be kicked.

It could use slightly distorted images generated randomly, to make this kind of capcha like thing

Found this in chat logs with friend. (Probably sent by me from fedi, actually.)
Anime artwork with dichromatic eyed boy with red hair and cat ears looking at you, pouting, with look like he is pleading or asking for something while being frustrated. Added text goes as "No catboys?"
Tired Bunny :bunhdcomfysleep:
My usual rule of the thumb is, if I don't think media I post is worth writing alt text, it's probably not worth posting or boosting, if needed to share but lazy I could post it in one of my chats or dm to friends

TV show idea - people going on completely unrelated places, from cafes to museums, and try to determine if it has "soul" or not
