If you want to help with translating my own game projects, I hang out in this Matrix room tonight to answer questions: Today is the 2nd and last day of the #Codeberg #translathon. A hackathon, but for translations. I have submitted my 3 game projects #Repixture, #Lazarr! and #Glitch. To my surprise, Spanish got translated very fast for Lazarr! 🙂 And I also contributed a bit to other games like #HurryCurry or #Librerama. Looks like the #XFCE #screenshot tool will soon have that awkward "Upload to #Imgur" option dropped. Good riddance! I never understood features like this one, especially when it goes to a #proprietary service. https://gitlab.xfce.org/apps/xfce4-screenshooter/-/issues/115 Two things can be true at once: 1) #TikTok is a hot steaming pile of anti-#freedom anti-#privacy garbage that should not be used by anyone ever You can't claim the moral high ground over an oppressive regime if you literally engage in Internet censorship yourself. Promote #FreeSoftware, not censorship. @Wuzzy banning TikTok is wrong not because TikTok is good, but because the US should introduce comprehensive data protection and privacy laws instead of fighting the symptoms. TikTok is a symptom, lack of data privacy regulation is the cause. @Wuzzy I don't agree with this as an absolute. There *may* be times when censoring something / blocking something is not terrible. In the case of TikTok, specifically, though -- We should be setting strict rules on what companies can do with user data, etc. Rules that apply equally to U.S.-based companies and non-U.S. companies -- and if a company like TikTok doesn't comply after that, then blocking it is a reasonable step. But skipping the step of creating reasonable rules is bad.

@Wuzzy I tried running the Forgejo web frontend on my local machine and wasn't impressed, most notably because of the high baseline CPU usage. That said, the people at Codeberg do great work. I believe that #FreeSoftware #development needs free software #tools. I’m tired of all the excuses for injecting #proprietary software like #GitHub, #Discord, #Transifex, #Slack, etc. into the development workflow. What's the point of making free software then? We *do* have good free software tools available, we just need to use them. Projects like #Forgejo show us exactly how it's done. Free software all the way, no compromises, no excuses. 👍 This is exactly the right direction.

@Wuzzy I saw something about Gitlab working on fediverse stuff so people would be able to comment or make merge requests without having an account on any specific instance. I feel like that functionality could be a game changer. Does Forgejo have that? Their home page says something about supporting decentralization. If they could federate accounts with each other, that would be fantastic.

> people can only access Google Maps over proprietary channels where Google dictates the rules WDYM? I use Firefox and I've never had a problem accessing Google Maps through it. Google controls the backend, sure, but I don't think they own any part of the "channel" I'm using to reach it. Don't get me wrong, I like Osmand~ too; it's the only map app I have on my (gApps-free) phone. It's just not usable as a standalone navigation tool, so I typically have to rely on Google for at least part of the workflow. @Wuzzy My change on #OpenStreetMap yesterday after go in mountain, and i add some benchs on map for people which need it regularly during walking. We can do an open cartography with the community, together. 🌏 I publish the bilingual free culture #webcomic 👃👂 “Nose Ears”. It’s about the #absurd things in life. This is a remix of the drawings of another webcomic and public domain images. 🔸 Nose Ears: https://wuzzy.neocities.org/ |
