@photos_floues @Curator @Feders_dub @chrisisgr8 What are they, then? The EU funds Frontex. The EU runs it. It answers to the EU. The EU could, with the stroke of a pen, abolish it.
What is it therefore representing, if NOT the EU's policies?

@julianfairfax @almaember @photos_floues @Curator @chrisisgr8 the "way to do things" for starters would be for EU countries to stop making deals with regimes people are running away from, like the Libyan one that Meloni's government, with EU Commission permission, is happy to keep supporting. We have to stop interfering when it's convenient for us then shut the door on the issues we caused. @Feders_dub @almaember @photos_floues @Curator @chrisisgr8 I don't know about that deal, but it certainly doesn't sound great, and I definitely don't like Meloni. The EU is most definitely not perfect, but I challenge you to find a country/bloc who does better. It is not an excuse, but a comparison. For all the things that need improving, there are already so many good things. Migration is probably also a bigger problem for the EU, as it's such a good place to live. @julianfairfax |
@almaember @photos_floues @Curator @Feders_dub @chrisisgr8 who would abolish a border protection agency? It may need reform, and definitely should always be watched and scrutinised, but abolishing it would be ridiculous.
You wouldn't just let anyone in your house, and remove the front door. There are people who meet the criteria to move to the EU, and they can.
But crossing the Mediterranean, risking your life to gain illegal entry in the EU, is not the way to go about things.
