It is illegal to cross international borders carrying #ivory. I know people who have had antique musical instruments destroyed because of this

At minimum there would need to be a significant financial support and advocacy for #elephant and #rhino #conservation

Then the name might not encourage the illegal ivory trade by positive association

Otherwise you’re practically naming your app after Illegal #poaching

@ivory I agree with the many people who've said that Ivory is a poorly chosen name. Tweetbot is great and I'd enjoy a Mastodon app from the same developers, but not one called Ivory.

Here's a couple of reasons why:

"25 March 2021 (IUCN) - Following population declines over several decades due to poaching for ivory and loss of habitat, the African forest elephant (Loxodonta cyclotis) is now listed as Critically Endangered and the African savanna elephant (Loxodonta africana) as Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Speciesâ„¢."
