@ivory I agree with the many people who've said that Ivory is a poorly chosen name. Tweetbot is great and I'd enjoy a Mastodon app from the same developers, but not one called Ivory.
Here's a couple of reasons why:
"25 March 2021 (IUCN) - Following population declines over several decades due to poaching for ivory and loss of habitat, the African forest elephant (Loxodonta cyclotis) is now listed as Critically Endangered and the African savanna elephant (Loxodonta africana) as Endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species™."

"Each year, at least 20,000 African elephants are illegally killed for their tusks. A decade-long resurgence in demand for elephant ivory, particularly in parts of Asia, has fueled this rampant poaching epidemic."

@jimrhiz @ivory @eobet
20,000 #Elephants killed every year
By 2040 the #Elephant would be extinct because of #Ivory
It’s like naming a product #BloodDiamonds. Kind of cool maybe, but you are linking yourself to atrocity
Maybe an international campaign against your product will help create pressure for governments like mine to ban the trade:

#IvoryFreeCanada
But it’s not an app I could buy with that name
