Although perhaps that lines up with my understanding of where Mastodon's users are -- which is that Mastodon is bigger in Europe and Chrome is not hot in Europe... @dnsprincess Nope. Bad assumption on my part. Chrome is very dominant in Europe (and pretty much anywhere else...) @dnsprincess On windows, Waterfox for most things, Chrome for surveillance sites (FB, Google, etc.), Chromium for stuff not compatible with Waterfox. On Android, DuckDuckGo, sometimes Firefox. @dnsprincess Chrome for web dev, Safari/Arc for personal. Slowly switching web dev to Firefox as extensions become available. @dnsprincess Chromium - so basically Chrome, but without the Googly bits. I use the woolyss build, updated via Chocolatey. @dnsprincess I use librewolf, but if something doesn't work on that, then I use firefox @dnsprincess Safari. It's not perfect but the adblocking is leagues above anything else which is the top priority these days. @dnsprincess #Firefox (since 1.0!) for most sites, #Chromium for a few sites that don't work with FF (mainly the bird site). @dnsprincess I actually used - *gasp* - MS Edge for several months, but have moved back to Firefox. I've used pretty much any/all of them at some point. @dnsprincess Kind of depends whaat device I'm using. Chrome + Edge at work, Safari at home + mobile. @dnsprincess Well, I use Brave as the main one with 100+ tabs (lost count) categorised into groups. But I also use Chrome and Pirate (which is based on Firefox). #tech #browsers @marco_m_aus_f @dnsprincess Great browser if you want all the advantages of Chrome with none of the advertising spyware. I used it on Windows until I switched to MacOS. @dnsprincess it’s funny how many of these are all running chrome/chromium’s rendering engine… @dnsprincess @jacmoe All of them except for Brave. For different tasks on different computers. @dnsprincess I use Microsoft Edge, though I love both Firefox and Opera. I used Safari when I had a Mac, and it was alright. @dnsprincess On Windows, I highly recommend Vivaldi. All of the advantages of Chrome, with none of the targeted advertising spyware. On MacOS, I recommend Safari. There’s no need for anything else. @dnsprincess on Android I use Edge because I think it has the best design I can't just get over it 😅 on the PC I use Chrome 😅😁 @dnsprincess Brave has been the best browser I've used after turning off all the crypto stuff @dnsprincess windows: Firefox mostly, chrome when needed, edge by accident I'd be interested to see what people's search engines are. I like Brave for the ad blocks, but I've been thinking about switching. @dnsprincess mainly Chrome, but also Firefox and Safari, sometimes Edge for work purposes. @dnsprincess Vivaldi. I used to use Brave, cause it was nice to get paid even a tiny amount of crypto to see general ads, then I found out Brendan Eich is an alt-right fanboy, and switched to Vivaldi. Opera ex-employees, still built on Chromium, still got an adblocker, works great for me. @dnsprincess@infosec.exchange Waterfox what is a fork of Firefox.. so I dont know if I vote Firefox or Other now haha! @dnsprincess @dnsprincess chrome is definitely the worse in my opinion. But companies love to use Gmail and Meet, and Google purposely creates a poor user experience on any other browser than Chrome so it ends up on most computers… @dnsprincess Vivaldi. They're even here. More than that, they set up their own instance! @dnsprincess Safari at home or when debugging Google-specific stuff like analytics, Chrome at work. Duck Duck Go on Android phone. @dnsprincess Firefox and Tor Browser mostly, but also Chromium for some occasional testing. @dnsprincess I voted chrome but i mainly use Brave. I just didn't notice it in the list before I voted I’ve been using Firefox since college (early 2000s) but I use chrome as well, which I use for work and email. Also with you in using obscure Chromium browsers... Naver Whale on the PC, Bromite on mobile. @econobox Yep, Bromite as well for me on the phone. Havenʼt tried Naver Whale but will look it up. I also used Opera GX a lot. @dnsprincess Naver Whale became my preference partly due to it having more privacy-respecting translation built in (which can be accessed via https://papago.naver.com/, too) for translating websites. Also seems to run a little more lean than most browsers (even some other Chromium-based ones)... also seems to be the 2nd best for battery since I switched to Mac. @econobox Really good to know. I think Vivaldi has translation, too, but Iʼve yet to look into that. Iʼll take a look later tonight. 🙂 |
@dnsprincess I am an "other" in the poll: I use Chrome and Edge about 50/50, depending on device and task.
