This is how you know this is mostly tech / eng community still These days I use DuckDuckGo, except for wordle and a few logins that I've saved in Chrome. dumb question: how did you add more than 4 options to a poll? Mastodon seems to limit to 4. Do other front ends do better? @dnsprincess i canโt choose more than one. ๐ญ safari as my main, chrome for work stuff. @dnsprincess too bad i cannot select multiples : Firefox on desktop, Vivaldi on smartphone. @dnsprincess I'm caught between firefox and brave. firefox seems to run really badly these days, brave doesn't, but there are things I miss like the way FF handles downloaded files, and I can just drag a tab to my bookmarks. Maybe bloat is good after all. @dnsprincess Vivaldi! Built by ex-opera folks I believe. Lots of privacy, customization, and convenience features built in. @dnsprincess I work from home and use Chrome for work (company uses all Google apps) and Firefox and Vivaldi for personal stuff. @dnsprincess Depends on what Iโm doing but generally go between Chrome and Firefox using Finicky to manage them on site basis. @dnsprincess Yes. The only one on that list I don't use is Brave. And not very often Opera, but Safari, Chrome, Edge, and Firefox are almost always running on my desktop. @dnsprincess - what happens if we use several. I use four browsers for different work/homecare roles. Eek!! @dnsprincess I use a mix, but primarily Edge, since it switched to Chromium. I still use Chrome a bit, still keep Firefox installed, but mainly Edge. I do actually like and use Collections. @dnsprincess Epiphany/Gnome Web. Currently the most fully-functional browser on Haiku-OS. Would like to use Firefox but the porting and maintenance would be insane. @dnsprincess A little off-topic, but how do you make a poll with so many choices? @dnsprincess Chrome. Every time o try to migrate to Firefox, I get annoyed with to many things that I abandon it again A mixture, Chrome, Chrome (Beta), Chromium & Firefox. Depends on where I am & what I'm doing. @dnsprincess it's complicated: DuckDuckGo on Android phone, Firefox on home Mac, Edge on enterprise policy bound work Windows PC, Firefox in Linux. @dnsprincess I loved #Firefox + #Vimperator / #Pentadactyl, back in the day, when they had better extension support. I recently found #luakit and qutebrowser which scratch the itch of highly customizable hotkeys. I've noticed #qutebrowser on Ubuntu 22.04 is much worse than 20.04 for battery life, I think due to the enhanced Qt5 features newer libraries allow by default. I plan to explore luakit to see how it compares, but only recently learned of it. @dnsprincess I've used Chrome, Firefox, and Opera of the ones you list, but a few months ago, I switched to Vivaldi, which is by far the best browser I've found. Like Opera and Chrome, Vivaldi runs on the Chromium engine, so for extensions you just go to the Chrome Web Store. @dnsprincess I used Firefox for several years. But now Russia has openly attacked the country I live in and I need absolutely all sites to work perfectly so I switched to Chrome @dnsprincess why not both? (or more) :) (sorry, I had to.., and I found it by accident, by clicking frantically on my screen after I selected the choices option) @dnsprincess Just wanted to add the DuckDuckGo iOS browser is truly excellent! :duckduckgo:โ โจ @dnsprincess For me it depends on purpose and platform. Most of my devices have multiple browsers. Opera and Edge aren't in the mix, the others are. I still really miss OmniWeb for Mac. It had some great features I haven't seen elsewhere. @dnsprincess A mix of my own (which I'm trying to move away from, but never get around to organizing tabs), Firefox, & GNOME Web. Both GNOME Web & my custom use WebKit like Safari. Since though I'll have another of my own to switch to, with a custom browser engine! @dnsprincess Alternate between Safari and Firefox. JavaScript implementation bugs. Some sites work in only one of the two. @dnsprincess arc! Absolutely loving it, and wonโt be going back to any other browser in the foreseeable future. ๐ @dnsprincess mostly Waterfox atm, not sure if it falls into "Firefox" option here, voted "other" @dnsprincess funny how many of us use Firefox. Meanwhile: Babe, is 4pm. Time for another Chromium-based browser @da_667 @dnsprincess I used Firefox for so long, but its performance on lower end devices just seemed to lag behind for me (Thinking Pinebook Pro / Raspberry Pi). I am trying out Brave now that they have a arm64 build and it is performing a lot better, but honestly have not done a ton of research into all the options yet. Just want one browser I can use across all my devices. @dnsprincess i voted for Brave, but I use that on android and my steam deck, while i use firefox on my laptop @dnsprincess lot of firefox users in this poll, myself included, surprising no one. chrome users I hope you get well soon @dnsprincess You can tell we are all nerds came together, by looking at firefox percentage, lol @dnsprincess Chrome for work, Vivaldi (Chromium-based) for vendors, Firefox for general use, and a second Firefox-based one for snoopy social media sites. STRONG believer in separation of browsers. Linux; Palemoon, wget, curl, Lynx...and if I have to; Librewolf or, deadass last resort; Chromium. Android; Privacy Browser, or Mull. @dnsprincess I use different browsers for different purposes. I use edge, brave, firefox, and chrome! @dnsprincess Use mainly Chrome (we're a Google Workspace shop) but starting to move towards FireFox more @dnsprincess Vivaldi. It feels like Opera used to feel like... Oh the days when you had to pay for it... |
@dnsprincess I use multiple browsers. Right now it's mostly edge for the Microsoft rewards points so I can get discount game pass ultimate, chrome for a certain set of tabs or when I want to watch YouTube while gaming. And Firefox on my steam os machine. I'm not particular about it.
