I tried Firefox, too, but it was a major memory hog and half the websites I use were buggy. (Roll20 became absolutely unusable.) I tried Brave but had similar problems. I hate chrome and want to get away from it but it's the only browser that consistently works for me. :ablobblewobble: @double_virgule @staustellsimon @dnsprincess brave us chrome plus nothing that can cause described trouble. In rarest chance there's diff, I could try to help to find and report it. Chrome is no go for me. Replace with really just anything chrome based. @PawelK @staustellsimon @dnsprincess Ehh, Brave uses Chromium but it has a different set of restrictions and requirements (both of which are good in general but cause issues with some sites). For my job and my personal life I have to have stability. I do use the DuckDuckGo search app. @double_virgule @staustellsimon @dnsprincess hmm. Interesting really. Never came across an issue like that. If I could learn the details, I could possibly try to help. Never had bit of an issue with Brave. @double_virgule @staustellsimon @dnsprincess Even in case we run into unsolvable issue with Brave, and one wanted to keep Chrome like performance, there are a few more clones if chromium out there. I would advise trying ffupdater app from fdroid if You are on Android. @double_virgule @staustellsimon @dnsprincess Ffupdater provides an extensive list of alternatives to chrome. @cufcman @dnsprincess yikes brave is beating Edge which is a default.... Thats crazy. But this is Mastodon so people here aren't going to go default I guess. @jckatz411 @cufcman @dnsprincess these results really say something about the people here - default apps dont get a look-in @dnsprincess I tend to stick to Firefox, but typically have multiple FF, Chrome, and 1 or 2 brave windows open for testing. @dnsprincess For now chromium, because edge was crashing, and firefox was eating more ram but I end up switching once a year to whatever is working best at the time @dnsprincess I voted chrome because I use chromium most (linux is my main OS), but on the surface book its Edge (which is rebadged chrome basically these days), and on the ipad Safari (because everything is rebadged safari there) @dnsprincess I voted Chrome, but I also use Firefox and plain Chromium on desktop and a mix of Chrome, Firefox and DuckDuckGo on mobile. I can't commit to just one. @bikeboi @dnsprincess Not if you're Edging right, shouldn't it be 99.9% I mean that's the point right @dnsprincess I thought that it was really cool to see the results updating in real time...πβ @mika @dnsprincess in the fediverse, at least until this November , polls are funny, because they always have a hilarious bias, compared to the general public. :meowgiggle2: @RenoirDana @dnsprincess I am *very* annoyed they stopped supplying Safari for Windows. How are we supposed to test Safari without paying for a MacBook? I guess that's the point π€¨ @jamiehowarth0 @RenoirDana @dnsprincess you could use browser stack or another browser testing tool. It is definitely annoying though. π¬ @dnsprincess safari on macos @dnsprincess On Windows I use Edge and on MacOS I use Safari! The most default of setups! @dnsprincess all of the above -vivaldi. Sometimes for web dev reasons and for different cookies in private browsing. If I had to choose than brave or firefox but with customisation and extensions as the default sucks in all of them. @22goingon23 @dnsprincess Seconded, Librewolf for linux, and just regular Firefox with a couple extensions on android @dnsprincess We can only vote for one? @dnsprincess I use firefox on OpenBSD, and Kagi as my daily driver on OS X. @dnsprincess I'm ignoring the "Chrome because corporate requires it" in there. @dnsprincess That's about what I expected around here. Only surprise was "Chrome " beating "other", but the comments suggest Chromium people are voting Chrome so that'll do it. @dnsprincess safari isnβt in that list but most macOS users use it as their primary browser @dnsprincess I use different browsers for different things. My vuln scans get done in FF. My work stuff (sharepoint, o365, etc) get done in Chrome. My personal stuff is in Brave. When I'm researching I used to use Vivaldi... but got lazy, so now it's just whichever browser I happen to be in at the moment @dnsprincess LibreWolf β A custom version of Firefox, focused on privacy, security and freedom @JRepin @dnsprincess glad someone else knows librewolf. yay -S librewolf-bin :archlinux: @dnsprincess Depends on the use of the browser. I will state publicly that I avoid pretty much anything Google. @dnsprincess @dnsprincess @dnsprincess on which platform? For which purpose? @dnsprincess Brave (recently moved from Firefox). I also use lynx quite a lot, for a quieter experience. @dnsprincess LibreWolf, active Firefox fork without the Google telemetry or Pocket nonsense @dnsprincess As I never thought about which Browser I like the most, I use on my 2 private and 2 Office PCs Edge, Firefox, Chrome and Opera.π₯΄ @dnsprincess I was not expecting Firefox to be so high considering how much marketshare Chrome has in general. @agizmo @dnsprincess more technical people are way more likely to use Firefox (or other non-chrome alternatives) than others @dnsprincess I use Vivaldi. Though it is based on chrome. might need to ditch it when manifest v3 kicks in. @dnsprincess happy to see so many Firefox users like me, but I think that the voters here are a little biased if you watch real world statistics https://gs.statcounter.com/browser-market-share @dnsprincess Linux - eLinks and Links cause sometimes you just have to terminal. Mobile, Firefox after turning off all the corporate link scraping and advertising (Like WTF firefox, you aren't Google!) And apparently Tusks is using Chrome? @dnsprincess if I just need to look up something textual quickly, I'll use eww in #emacs I've also tried using #nyxt several times, but the lack of granular script blocking puts me off, and I don't have the energy to hack it myself |
