[DATA EXPUNGED]
@donnerwolke @pixelfed @loops sorry, but you already have missing features and slow development and bugs in pixelfed and you want to start yet another platform? I know a TikTok alternative would be great, but you either start a crowd funding and try to get money so you can pay active development or you should really reconsider doing that step. @NafiTheBear @pixelfed @loops Care to explain which missing features? As for slow development, perhaps you missed the 120+ PRs I merged in the past month (+ 2 releases). I'm eager to hear your response. @loops i think you should put the remark of @NafiTheBear into perspective, @dansup. Compared to the pace of development of e.g. Meta, the development of @pixelfed is slow. That does NOT mean you're doing anything wrong, though. @Klaus @loops @NafiTheBear @dansup @pixelfed That’s not true. Development is slow because things don’t get finished and bugs don’t get fixed before something else is added or a new project started. You are so very correct. And I am saying this as someone that procrastinates and never finishes anything and has a million half done/started projects.
@dansup @NafiTheBear I don't personally use Pixelfed, but I've heard the same sentiment echoed by multiple people that do, especially when it comes to long-standing unfixed bugs. @pixelfed @dansup Are you aware about https://github.com/Goldfish-Social/Goldfish? Although development seems to be stalled, maybe you can combine your efforts somehow. Good luck! Edit: I read StuxOS, so probably @stux is behind it. @joenepraat @dansup @stux Yes, we're aware, and will be helping #Goldfish build their mobile app! 1. Storing video is expensive! @WarpinWolf @pixelfed @loops Yes and there’s also several video websites with the name loops I love the idea, but how will content discovery work? In my experience with activitypub servers. Socializing as in actually talking to people is great, but content discovery can be kind of horrid Sometimes we do want an algorithm or some means of discovering the popular content :nkoThink: Algo's have no place on the Fediverse! If you want that go use the surveillance captialism, social sites! If you can't discover content with hashtags, you in my opinion aren't trying. It's not difficult. @marathon @CupofDalek @pixelfed @loops Blackbox algos have no place here. Transparent algos can be fine. Curation doesn't always mean surveillance, sometimes it can be handled clientside. There are other techniques. The thing about TikTok is, one would be mistaken to think its selling point is shortform vertical videos. It's not. Vine failed, YouTube Shorts are unpopular, the format isn't the thing TikTok gets right. What they get right is their algorithm. @CupofDalek @CupofDalek I think subscribing to hashtags would probably be a great way to do discovery. @pixelfed @BrodieOnLinux @loops would it be possible to follow non fediverse accounts? Without interactions of course. A sort of bridge to other platforms. I guess I could code that myself too... @pancake They are probably working on Loops faster due to the possible TikTok Ban in the US. Hopefully Loops and the rest of the Fediverse is where people move to. @pixelfed Why "a fediverse TikTok platform?" Are you using "TikTok" generically? Or will loops actually be affiliated with TikTok in some way? @pixelfed @loops when will the pixelfed app come onto play store? Also scheduling of posts is needed. Can't wait to try loops. I was too late for #Vine but just in time to try this. #BringBackVine @pixelfed @loops @SheDrivesMobility Ganz bald vlt. eine spannende (Fediverse-)Alternative zu #tiktok ..!? |
