Reddit users figured out that some bot crawlers scrape popular threads and auto-generate AI articles based on user comments, so they decided to create some fake hype to confuse them. https://www.reddit.com/r/wow/comments/154umm2/im_so_excited_they_finally_introduced_glorbo/ It worked. This is why real journalism matters.

@antimnguyen I still struggle to see the blue/black, just about can see it if I cover the brighter parts though @antimnguyen I've always imagined the perfect terminally-online outfit to be this dress, but with tiny embedded LEDs that change between black and blue and white and gold every few seconds. @antimnguyen I would say 90 people with no soft skills, 10 people with them and of those hundred 50 and 50 distribution between autism spectrum and adhd traits. Only thing certain is that at least one marketing person has adhd and soft skills. good news! We hired some leaders with soft-skills! bad news! They're dead-eyed sociopaths with MBAs. good news! They've fixed the productivity problems and the games are profitable! bad news! We've turned the entire gaming industry into slot-machines made by sweatshops. At first I was like, I have that! Let me in! And then, the rest of responses cured me of that delusion. While following a lot of people can populate your Home feed significantly, sometimes people (like me) end up boosting a lot and that can unexpectedly hinder your own experience. So if you like someone's specific posts and don't want to follow their boosts, you can go to their profile under the [...] button, and select the "Hide boosts from account" button. There is no algorithm on Mastodon. You have ownership and control over every filtering decision instead of some robot.

@antimnguyen I felt like I had more control when I could tell the algorithm "a lil less of this please" or "no more of that ever." Instead of just the latter. another reason not to worry about over-boosting! follows and boosts both grow your instances' federated timelines! Mastodon can be accessed through a variety of third-party apps, with varying degrees of quality: some run faster than others, some have discrete UX decisions that favor simplicity over expanded controls, etc. One thing that the Fedilab app does very well is handling busy comment sections in threads. They add these color lines on the left-hand side that makes it very easy to identify which comments are parented/nested with one another. Mick Gordon's accounting of his work experience on DOOM Eternal is quite a damning read. https://medium.com/@mickgordon/my-full-statement-regarding-doom-eternal-5f98266b27ce

@antimnguyen Man this painful. The thing you realize is how dependent these individual creators are on not pissing off large studios. @antimnguyen It really sucks what happened to him, such a disrespect for a wonderful artist. |
